This is significant bc DL has always been played well here on the islands and these type of guys usually go away. Glad he stayed and will be a building block for the future.

He has strong, violence hands and hold the point, which is key at DE. However, he was pushing around guys against St Louis when he was an OG. Is it possible he moves back to OG?

With the Late NLI Signing Day upcoming this Wednesday (Feb. 3), Kapolei HS DL Zhen Sotelo is now the last remaining top uncommitted Class of 2021 local HS prospect.....still supposedly deciding between Nebraska & UH....

Now that 2021 Mililani HS LB Wynden Ho'ohuli is headed to Lincoln, Sotelo might also be leaning towards Nebraska over UH....but it appears that he might also be a back-up secondary recruit for Nebraska. If Nebraska decides to pull Sotelo's offer and UH has already filled its allotted DL commits, Sotelo could end up at one of the other MWC programs (San Diego State, UNLV, or Utah State) that made early offers.

Sotelo, who’s down to NU and Hawaii, doesn’t appear to have the green light yet to sign with the Huskers. He said he’s going to have another Zoom call soon with Nebraska defensive line coach Tony Tuioti about his choices.

If the Huskers want to pursue one more high school defensive lineman they could look towards Zhen Sotelo. The Hawaii native (6-4, 268) has been an under the radar target for most of this cycle.

Worst-case scenario for Sotelo is IF the other schools who made early offers also don't have any available scholarships left.....then Sotelo could become one of those 2021 HS prospects who had multiple early offers but who didn't commit/sign during the December Early Signing Period and are now left without an available scholarship.

Liking all the incoming DL commits (Baker, Jones, McKinney, and now Tonga Jr.), but now kinda wondering if UH is still actively recruiting or will even have a scholie available for 2021 Kapolei HS DT/DE Zhen Sotelo (who is still uncommitted and supposedly still deciding between UH and Nebraska).....

I'm thinking that maybe Al Noga was the last of them. He played 7 years. Veikune had a two year career, then pro in other leagues. I think that Sotelo has the makings to do well in the NFL.
