WOW, Transfer from Tyler JC chose Hawaii over offers from Arizona & Washington St and about 10 other schools.
Hawaii was his 2nd offer while he was in JC, back on April 10, 2020.

Originally committed to Prairie View A&M (Houston) out of Mesquite HS (TX) but instead ended up signing with and playing for Tyler Junior College in 2019.....
Apparently a full-qualifier....so should have 4 to play 3.... https://twitter.com/tay_youngsta/status/1326252831146471430

Another Texas recruit for Graham. I like the fact he apparently has 4 to play 3.

Re: DE Otay Baker from Texas (Tyler JC) commits
From Star AdvertiserO’Tay Baker, an edge defender from Tyler (Texas) Junior College, will ink a letter of intent with the Warriors on Feb. 3, the first day football recruits may put their commitments in writing.
Baker, who is 6-4 and 250 pounds, was used at defensive end, rush end and outside linebacker as a freshman in 2019. Tyler’s 2020 season has been postponed until this spring.
“Hawaii is getting a good one,” said Alex Wierzbicki, who coaches Tyler’s defensive ends and outside linebackers.
It was Baker’s pocket-breaking ability that led to his selection the All-Southwestern Conference first team in 2019.
“You won’t find it too often a guy who can play defensive end in a 3-4 and outside linebacker, as well, with his athletic ability, his pass-rush ability and knowledge for the game,” Wierzbicki said. “He’s really explosive in playing behind the line of scrimmage. What separated him was his twitchiness (ability to slip blocks). He was twitchy off the ball, which made him very explosive in order to play behind the line of scrimmage, and his will to never quit. He never gave up on any play. And he has an unbelievable motor.”

Has has some natural speed and instincts. Needs to be better at holding the point and using his hands. Those are all coachable things.

Tyler JC is going to play in the spring. Unless the NCAA doesn't count this year for JC football, Baker will have 3 to play 2.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 3:44 pmAnother Texas recruit for Graham. I like the fact he apparently has 4 to play 3.
http://www.apacheathletics.com/article/3098Presidents of the Southwestern Junior College Football Conference voted Wednesday to approve a football schedule for the spring of 2021. The change was necessary following the announcement in July by the National Junior College Athletic Association moving the majority of fall sports competition to the spring.
The schedule, which was proposed by league coaches and athletic directors, features a seven game conference schedule with the opportunity to play one non-conference opponent. Games will begin the weekend of March 27, 2021. The date of the NJCAA National Championship game is set for June 3, 2021.

That's great. I only wish which he was a mid-year transfer participating in off-season training and spring practice.Irse wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 4:09 pm This year doesn't count for JCs either

Seems as though that....UH might not be aware that O'Tay's second JC season doesn't count towards his eligibility clock....since he's listed as an incoming Junior in eligibility.Irse wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 4:09 pm This year doesn't count for JCs either
