What Is Calvin Turner's Light At The End Of The Tunnel?

Post by sarvicdar »

What Is Calvin Turner's Light At The End Of The Tunnel?

Here's a player that sparked Hawaii's season and win in the New Mexico Bowl and is now faced with the biggest decision of his life. He could either stay for another season at Hawaii, or pursue a NFL career.

This is a huge fork in the road in Turner's life.

If he opts for the draft it's either hit or miss.

If he opts to play another season it's either hit or miss, especially as the signs of the pandemic is not letting up.

What's really at stake for Turner is weather his value as a NFL prospect will increase with another year with Hawaii. That's what he has to look at. Is the trade-off worth it-staying or going.

He could stay and ply his trade, increase his stock and whatever. And be closer to the top shelf come this time next year.

He could be bigger, faster and stronger and really make a name for himself.

But I don't think that's in Turner's heart and nature. To me Turner strikes me as a driven man, travels in the fast lane, and lives in the now, today, and he has a strong belief in himself that he can make it at the next level. I say he sees that one opening, like on the football field, he will take it. There's no waiting, hesitation in Turner's life. I say he would trade his shoes and shirt for that one chance because that's all he's lived for. A chance. His time has come.

Come the next few weeks or so (or sooner) Hawaii football will have a clearer picture of which fork in the road Turner chooses. I say to Turner that he should follow his heart.

The same rule still apply. Every player is one injury away from perhaps ending their career. If can, go pro.

With a full year, there is no guarantee TG will use / count on Turner as much as he did. TG said if there's one thing to sum up the new recruits, it would be speed. Turner may not be that "special" next year.

The guy is a proven play maker. Coaches and offensive coordinators always find ways to get the ball to play makers as many times that they can.

I like the way Turner runs low to the ground without wasted motion. His acceleration is deceptive because his upper body does not shake and shimmy. He's also quick with his timing of his stiff arms. Based on his running style, I would say that he would be less prone to injury. He's been noticed by some because of the NM Bowl but if he has a full season of publicity and views, he's going to have a bright future going to the next level. I think Jared Smart may be able to break into the NFL with his hands at slot.

Turner made a lot of Houston players look slow. He also looked very composed and sure of his moves. I'd like to see him play for Hawaii one more year. There aren't any guarantees in the NFL.

More NFL scouts and coaches will have another year to salivate on new film to figure out where he'll fit in their program. Show 'em all Calvin what you're all about! :o :hello1:

Cats don't have owners. Cats have servants.

I do believe that he means business. Next season could be huge.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.
