They couldn't mount a threat in the fourth quarter against the second team defense for SDSU except for a couple of CC runs.WarriorTyme wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 1:55 pm The Hawaii offense is just anemic... the Hawaii defense has been on the field way to long against SDSU. Something or somebody or has to change on offense, either coaching or players or both. This Hawaii offense is offensive!

Yeah, the difference is the receivers stop the long route and come back for the ball. It's all about ball control with the pass rather than going for the home run on every play.
Re: *****OFFICIAL HAWAII VS. SAN DIEGO ST. GAME THREAD*****
chevan needs to drop the ball in so receivers can fight for the ball instead of having the ball just whiff over their heads. let the receivers have the 50/50s, closer balls might draw more interference penalties too. maybe lobbing a bit instead of using the cannon might give the receiver more time to get under the ball.

O-line gives up another 7 sacks. Coaches start Levao at LG and take out Eletise which makes no sense. Eletise's the top O-linemen imo. The better move would be to change the RG. Said that, saw that, said that last season (wrote then that Waa was way better than Vaipulu.) Plus you can say now that this unit does well swimming with the minnows, but when there's sharks in the water they belly up like they did today. Overhyped? Definitely. Plus Graham's hiring of an O-line coach
that had zero D-1 experience as a O-line coach (being an analyst doesn't count) is quickly proving to why this unit is performing poorly. No QB can overcome the pass rush that Cordeiro faced today and perform well.

Sadly...the promise to keep RnS concepts hasn't materialized. The routes are clearly not the same with options, threatening the seams and finding holes. The WRs are not open like they are in RnS.
They should go back to playing Levao at Center. OL looked like JV vs Varsity. Cordero ran for his life on nearly every snap. Where's the big back for blocking and punishing the D?
Kudos to the D...they played well for good chunks of the game. Tavai, Laulu and Miasaua are studs.

I don't know why people think that they would keep the run and shoot when none of the coaches had any experience running it. It's not just about the pass patterns but also the blocking schemes. It takes quite a while to learn how to run it efficiently.Palolo_2LA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:30 am Sadly...the promise to keep RnS concepts hasn't materialized. I say put the blame on the AD. Why pick a coach that has a different system than the run and shoot. Chevan is a run and shoot qb. Not an air raid an. Why fix something that ain’t broken.Irse wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 4:49 amI don't know why people think that they would keep the run and shoot when none of the coaches had any experience running it. Don’t know if it has been to the Covid problem we have had this year but our team just looks slow compared to our opponents. Our tackles look like their feet are stuck in mud. And we are so soft up the middle. We will need better strength and conditioning during off-season or recruit heavy to shore up our oline. In the mean time coach needs to do something quickly or Chevan will end being like Sean Shroeder. I haven’t seen our tackles getting beat the way they are this year. It is hard to judge but it does seem like we have had better oline coaches in the past.couz808 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 10:55 amI say put the blame on the AD. Agree with trying Levao at center I wonder how his snaps are at this point. But he would help shore up the center position.Palolo_2LA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:30 am Sadly...the promise to keep RnS concepts hasn't materialized. Levao at C at the end of the 2018 regular season was pretty effective at run blocking. I was surprised that tuulima kept the job through the coaching changeRedZone wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 12:18 pmAgree with trying Levao at center I wonder how his snaps are at this point.
