Re: New QB
If I were to guess, I'm pretty sure that Graham is a manager/coach. He's going to maintain the hierarchy from last year. He's probably already heard it from the peanut gallery I suspect that Chevan is a crowd favorite. It would be Chevan's position to lose and that would be if he gained 30 pounds, lost his quickness and is losing games. I suspected that the quarterbacks will be taught early to read when to run and run hard which might cause QB injuries. UH might need to be 3 deep at QB. Can you imagine what would happen at Aloha Stadium if they started another quarterback and lost their early games? There would be a riot.

Re: New QB
Agree. Graham is smart enough not to rock the boat, especially since he is an "outsider." Normally, coaches are given a 2 year pass. With the lockout, for sure he will have that two years pass.shrek2 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 2:14 pm

Counter point: If only 17K show up at Aloha Stadium, no can hear the boos if he does not start Chevan. Or should we do a COVID19 Adjustment in attendance and say only 5K will show up.
Re: New QB
Graham is not a political coach. He is also not a BS coach. He has already assessed the talent on the team. More then likely he started assessing the talent before he applied for the job. He is not going to say something that will cause him to lose his credibility with fans, players and his coaches. He knows at this stage that Chevan is his starter. But if someone comes in in the fall and beats Chevan out Graham will go with whoever it is that will give him the best chance to win and that goes for every position. He is all about winning now not two years from now. He has the confidence in what he can do, the coaching staff that he has put together and the players he inherited. He is building his winning culture; confidence, family, discipline, execution, speed, physicality, verticle passing, tough D, being able to run the ball (passing to the RB) and scoring.

Re: New QB
I'm sure Fred Von Appen and Norm Chow had the same feeling before the QB hike the first ball.
Re: New QB
Two over-the-hill, first-time head coaches had very little in common with Graham. Likewise, I can't really compare Armani Eden to any other 'replacement' quarterback at UH. I guess Cole McDonald and Greg Alexander have more in common with being 'replacement guys', but that was McMackin and Rolovich. Still, neither one of those coaches had a Chevan to rely on. Chevan still has a lot to prove. We'll see.cabanalane wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 5:39 am I'm sure Fred Von Appen and Norm Chow had the same feeling before the QB hike the first ball.

Re: New QB
With no spring practice and a questionable summer workout program, I think any QB will have a hard time beating out Chevan. Graham will have to rely ore on Chevan than if there was no lockdown and we had spring practice and all summer where the QBs could be working on the new systemTheDuke wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 5:26 am Graham is not a political coach.
