Samoa is okay but I would rather have a stronger Texas pipeline.
Texas & Cali are great for speed....but need Amerika Samoa (AS) too for linemen. The AS kids generally have more physical upside potential (than the local HI kids) to get bigger & stronger once they get off the rock.
Texas and Cali have big boys too. Don't get me wrong, I like us recruiting AS but opening Texas nad Cali more may be just as productive.

I like the idea of being Polynesisa's team...local recruits and AS recruits are important to keep the vibe of team...all UH teams have had important contributions from Polys...not saying only Poly lineman, but the reality is UH has ad a better track record with top AS linemen vs top guys from California or TX bc they simply won't come to UH.

Rainbow Warriors Add Seven During Regular Signing Period

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football program added seven prospects during the regular signing period, Wednesday, extending the total for the Class of 2020 to 17. Among the seven signees include four junior college transfers and three prep standouts while wide receivers and defensive backs accounted for six of the seven.

"First of all, our staff of Abe (Elimimian), Jacob (Yoro), and recruiting coordinator Josh (Omura) did an unbelievable job with the transition and bridging everything together," said head coach Todd Graham. "We had immediate needs, and we felt like we met those needs. We also wanted to make sure we signed quality and not quaintly. On top of it all, I'm extremely excited about who we signed locally both today and our class as a whole."

The need for speed was evident in this year's group. Ten of the 17 signees are either receivers (6) or defensive backs (4). The remaining include five linemen – three on defense and two on offense – one running back and one placekicker. Five of the signees are homegrown talent from the state of Hawai'i while three signees each lists hometowns in California and Texas, respectively.

Does UH no longer talk about their recruits?
I remember JJ and I think even McMacken would go in depth and breakdown every recruit, I wish we would do that again

The tough part about recruiting America Samoa is their academic qualification. Lot's of up side physically but most go the CC route or schools that don't require Algebra II. In many cases they can't get into UH but they can get into most of the PAC 12 and the other MWC schools.

That's a lot of receiver being offered. Where's the beef?
