I think he loves Hawaii more than anyone on the staff, including the former HC
+1. Or Brian Norwood. Gotta be someone with UH ties as a player or coach. The worst tenures in the past 30 years were HCs with no UH ties - Fred von Appen and Norm Chow.
Banker is still loved in the Kahuku and Polynesian circles. He made his money already and he and his wife loves living in Hawaii and being amongst the Local People. He also has strong recruiting ties all over the mainland.
I wouldn't mind a defensive minded HC like Banker with somebody like Matt Mumme, OC from UNR to continue the Air Raid that he called at UNR. Whoever it is, they have to have some charisma.

Miano said that there are 2 coaches on the staff who would do a phenomenol job. He wouldn’t say who though.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.

jason garrett. hey, he's available. maybe he'll look at it like a paid vacation. the r&s or rpo is a part of the nfl playbook so it's not like a big change for him or hawaii.

It would be ideal to have Banker as HC and he grooms Stutz to be the next HC by giving him sole reign of the offense, then slowly guide him through the landscape of a HC. No 3 headed OCs calling plays. Stutz the convinces Vinny Passas to be the QB coach and develop young talent so they don't have to go back to their HS during the offseason.

My pick would be Miano. He is more alpha than the aforementioned names imo.

He's definitely organized, knows the landscape here and in the NFL(11 seasons as a player). Coached here at UH, what 13 years?

Coached Kaiser to a 19-4 as an HC (although people here will cite Miano's impropriety's to which the AG found none).

He knows the RNS, can speak its language easily, having been on Jones and Mack's staff.

He's very thorough, technical and passionate in his coaching, and has a good rapport with his players and staff.

I don't know of a more qualified applicant of all the names that been thrown around on this site and others.

I'm with you. Hope all three are on the staff with one of them the HC.

The thing about Batoon that worries me is if he will jump at the first stick thrown at him by a Power5 school.

Th Clapper. He took enough of Jones' money and did nothing. Then again, he would take the state's money and do nothing.

That would sound good to me. Just hope UH doesn't drag it's feet in hiring the new coach since recruiting is very important starting this week.

Neither Brian Smith nor Craig Stutzman would impress me in a television interview. They'd put me to sleep.

Top Hawaii and Poly players will sign with Rolo. The only way to counter that is with Rich Miano.

Rich Miano need to be back with UH Football.
