The Absolute Gem of 2020 Class

Post by Palolo_2LA »

Micah Soliai Howlett simply mauled, smashed and pancaked everyone put in front of him in the open division. Think about all the stud DEs and DLs @ The Lou, Mililani ,Punahou, Kam, etc...they are were put on their backsides. He's in the mode of a C Naole and I know that high praise, but just look at his film.

Attracting elite WRs and QBs is easy money with this RNS and related video stats, but the O starts up front with the OL and attracting this type of elite blocker was more difficult. #RedRaidersMauler

Both rated similarly on 247. Hunter's notable offers were Wyoming, Nevada, and UNLV. MSH's notable offers included Arizona State, Syracuse, Fresno, Nevada, UNLV, Navy. Both good gets.

Both look like great additions to O.
While we picked up some Dlinemen, I’m hoping we can add a bigger body, or a Kennedy T type.

We have big bodies on the DL. We need more speed. We can't protect the edge. Because of the lack of speed we are not in position to make tackles. RBs run through our arm tackles. We get penetration and can't catch the QB.

True...there are many big bodies on DL...what's needed are penetrators, disruptors, ppl who push line of scrimmage backwatds versus holding the line, not getting off blocks and being pushed back. .

Good point. Maybe we can get another NOGA. 😋
So you’re saying speed at DEs? Or, overall speed including LBs?

Al was a freak of nature and a generational player...but yes his type of DE or a Laboy type, ...for DT ppl like Watson, Sopoanga.

I think Taala can be disruptive, however I think he needs better pad level and more violent hands as well. I see potential in Lualu and Matthews. Let's see how Russell, Tavai, JC DT develop.

Im concerned about out DEs. Thomas and Vegas showed flashes. We need a speed rusher in for sure in the 2020. Not sure Ezra has the speed and surprised that the other kid from Kam - Jonah hasn't showed up.

overall speed. We are slow and therefore a lot of arm tackles and missed tackles. We are slow at DL, DE, LB and S.

More speed and quickness is needed at DL and DE and more speed at LB and S. The lack of speed is the reason why we are not in position to make tackles. The result is arm tackles and missed tackles. Quickness will get you penetration.

Agree except you missed CB but its mostly tackling at CB. Overall defense is what has been lacking the last few years.

Thanks for comments.
Obviously, guys like Laboy had speed. Who are other examples at DE??

And, at LB we had Pisa, Odom ... Who else are examples of speed at LB??

Note: My brother says Al NOGA was unblockable one-on-one. I still think NIKO was the freak of nature and best to come out of UH on D.

One could make a strong case that Al is the best player out of UH. He had amazing speed and power. Niko was a freak to, but just not as good as Al.
