Rolo said he will hit the JC and even transfer portal to fill urgent needs.
One guy of interest is formet Kahuku and BYU Dline Hirkley Latu. He went on a mission, redshirted in 2018 and sat out 2019. He has 3 to play 3
HAWAII GROWN: Kahuku alum Hirkley Latu enters transfer portal
By Billy Hull on August 23, 2019
Brigham Young freshman linebacker Hirkley Latu, who helped Kahuku win a state championship as a senior in 2015, announced on social media today he will transfer and has entered the transfer portal.
Latu served a two-year church mission after high school and redshired in 2018 upon his return. He was a member of the scout team and did not play in a game.
A first-team Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State selection at linebacker as a senior, Latu committed to BYU over offers from California, Hawaii, Oregon State, Utah, Utah State and Washington State.
He is currently listed on the BYU roster as a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive lineman.
The transfer portal is getting long, but I was wondering if anyone knew of other players who may have ties or connections to current players and could contribute to Hawaii.
LOL. If Oregon State is still interested in his services, he will be a Beaver. Every Hawaii football kid wants to go live in Corvallis for some odd reason. But at least we got Tufaga back.
I'll just throw out some guys of interest...
Ely Doyle
6-0 / 190 lbs
Safety
Arizona St, RS Frosh out of Bishop Alemany
2019 played 1 game, entered portal
2018 played 4 games, redshirt
Previously recruited by Brian Smith
Hawaii has been aggressively recruiting for the class of 2017, but a few 2018’ers have caught the staff’s attention too. One such recruit is Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany athlete Ely Doyle.
Doyle already has five offers as he prepares for his junior season. Hawaii recently offered him after seeing him at a camp in California.
“I had been talking to Coach Smith for a couple months and we have been communicating with each other a lot,” Doyle said. “After he saw me workout at the camp, it took about two hours and then we were on the phone. He told me how good I did and then he offered me the scholarship. I was blessed. I give all the glory to God. I’m hoping to stay in contact.”
Doyle’s other offers include Nevada, Utah, Montana State and just today he added Washington State. He is also hearing from Nebraska, Stanford and UCLA among others.
“It feels really good,” Doyle said of his recruitment picking up early. “Now I have more confidence. I’m hoping more will come and am staying positive and humble.”
So far, he likes what he is hearing from UH as an option.
“Hawaii is a pretty good school and they have a good academic program,” Doyle said. “I talked to Coach Smith about studying kinesiology and he told me that had a good program for studying that. The football program overall is a good place to be.
“They said they want me at safety,” Doyle added of Hawaii.
Oregon Ducks kicker Adam Stack to transfer
Updated Sep 09, 2019
Adam Stack, who was Oregon’s kicker in 2018 but missed all of spring due to a hernia and lost the competition to freshman Camden Lewis, has chosen to transfer “to find an opportunity, a better opportunity for himself,” Oregon coach Mario Cristobal announced.
“We certainly respect that and will help him in any way that we can,” Cristobal said.
Stack, who had a 35-yard punt that landed inside the 20 in Oregon’s 77-6 win over Nevada last week, was just 6 of 10 on field goals last season.
The junior from Honolulu, Hawaii will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Kicker Matthew Shipley has already committed. He's rated the #7 & 11th kicker in the country by Chris Sailer Kicking and Kohl's Kicking Camps.
Hirkley Latu has had 2 season ending injuries since coming off his 2 year mission. So he hasn't played in 4 years. Not saying he wouldn't be a good pickup but there's a lot to be concerned about.

Stack could walkon as a backup PK & Punter.
Don't know the status of Boyle (hasn't attempted a college FG yet) and Gaudion is a senior to be. Stack has plenty of friends on the current UH roster

I can't imagine Stack would give up a P5 school scholarship to walk on to a Group of 5 school. He's looking for a scholarship somewhere.

He had a season ending injury in 2018, he sat out this fall so he can transfer and play in 2020. Is there a source that I may have missed that said he had a season ending injury in 2019?

He's one that I wouldn't mind us getting. Since he wasn't on the team last year, I would imagine he would be eligible immediately.
