He will be good for Hawaii. But 295lbs? What do you eat up there in Kahuku? That's a nice size, but we are talking about high school students.
Rolo said phase 2 is playing and winning consistently.

I'm assuming it means to take it to the next level and challenge for championship

Micah says he’s now 6’4, 295 lbs.
Good height, solid weight (not fat), and strong (see his bench press, cleans, squat, dead lift).

Yup. Phase 2 is the beginning of a new era, leaving the struggles of the Chow era behind. In which the annual question before every season is, "is this a good Hawaii team, or a great Hawaii team?" and not wondering if bowl eligibility is in question. Time will tell if that narrative is legit, but so far so good.

This commitment sure is a solid step in the right direction. If UH can consistently land players with ratings between 82-88 on 247, this can be a program that threatens for 9+ wins annually.

I just can't imagine where ASU practices during the summer and fall. They may be in an air conditioned stadium where it's 80 degrees during the summer but they still gotta get out into air at some point after practice to 110 degrees. At least in Hawaii you got the tradewinds in Manoa.

Some said Hawaii is a lot warmer now, or feels that way. This goes with another conversation I saw on FB about how we never need AC back then. My cars never had AC. Now, AC is almost a must in Hawaii.

Anyhow, UA (University of Arizona) does have an indoor place to run their practice, along with an outdoor facilities. I may be wrong, but not that off, but practice starts like at 5:30am (6:00am) so the temp is like 85 degrees, at worst. So if students manage their sleep well, not too bad.

In AZ, AC is everywhere because it's a must. So being 110 degrees does not matter. On the flip side, someone got to pay for that. It's not uncommon to see $300 electric bills during the summer for a household.

Ont he flip side, I recall colder states like Oregon (Ducks). You go in from the cold snow. Then into a building, then another building, and another building. Then by the time you are ready to practice, it's t-shirt and shorts.

I guess that's how some mainland schools can impress a younger, because they got the $$$ and facilities. And show how well the school can take care of them. It's not just the arena, stadium or the weight room. UH got all of that. Then again, Hawaii don't really need all of that. Or do they?

Mose was about 340 last year. The kid at farrington is about 340. 300 is not huge for a high school offensive lineman.
I believe it. But how does that happened? How much do they weight when they were 12 years old? 8 years old? etc.
In the early 80s my JV team had a 6'2" 300lbs lineman, along with O-tackles that were 5'11" 275, 6'0" 280lbs, 5' 10" 225lbs etc...

It's called genes. My brother had a grandson that was big the day he was born. 5 yrs old, tall for his age, 85 lbs and not fat. Later at 14 he was 6'3 and 305 lbs. He was always a big kid.

Wow..My 12 year old son is not even 85lbs.

Going OT. That reminds me, the Center on our football team in HS was 165lbs. He would just go low off the line to take the D out. The plan was just to buy that little amount of time. I recall one game against Farrington, we had the lead at the half, but eventually that plan just didn't work, and lost the game. Months later, I was talking to one of the Farrington OL, who was big at 240lbs 6'3" (because I work with him). In his exact words "You think I'm big? We hate playing against Kahuku. Those guys are big, and when they fall on you, it hurts."

I guess football is a big boy's game.

Size is relative to the times. Mid 1970's. A high school acquaintance of mine was offered a scholarship by Larry Price. He was an all-State offensive lineman. Price wanted him to gain more weight but he declined the offer because he didn't want to be over 200 pounds. Weight training now days is one reason, but really, what do the kids nowadays EAT?
