Sports Hawaii's "Guess the UH Football Score" Contest!
Guess what the score will be for each team in the Hawaii vs USC (2013) football game. If you get the score exactly right then you will win a $50 gift certificate from Amazon.com. You only get one guess per game and the contest closes at the start of the Football game (kick-off). There will be no ties, if two people have the same score, then the person who posted it first will be the winner. *hint, check to see if anyone else already took your guess* Any entry after the kick off or any edited posts will not count. GOOD LUCK!!!

Time to get into football spirit! I remember in 2006 vs. Bama when this thread was up 6+ months in advance. :o SH'ers are slacking. 8)

Anyways, you know the deal....

Spread as of 7/21/13...... -21.5 USC

USC is reaching the height of their probation. They will be thinner than ever in 2013, especially on defense where offensive players are having to try out to provide depth. This will not be the juggernaut we've come to know. The numbers game when it comes to the roster really hurts USC. That said, they do return college footballs best WR in Marquis Lee....and while numbers are short, the guys they do have are the best of the best. I think UH surprises a little.....no eye-popping blowout in this game (no 62-7 type score like 1999)....but the Trojans do win comfortably. UH beats the current spread.

USC - 41
Hawaii - 20

USC 65
Hawaii 21

This is an optimistic prediction. I don't think USC will have any worries on defense. Don't forget that we have a new offensive coordinator. USC won't take it easy on us this year.

USC

at Hawaii, Aug. 29

Coach: Norm Chow (3-9), second year
2012 record: 3-9, 1-7 Mountain West
Returning starters: 9 offense, 8 defense

Offensive headliner: We met the offensive line in the Oregon State nonconference primer. Wide receiver Scott Harding is back after catching 20 balls and a pair of touchdowns last year with a 12.8 yards-per-reception average.

Defensive headliner: Linebacker Art Laurel posted 51 tackles, including 13.5 for a loss and four sacks last season while also forcing a fumble.

The skinny: This is actually the first time we'll see Hawaii this season, though they make back-to-back appearances against the Pac-12 and will travel to the mainland a week later to face Oregon State. Last year's game was a blowout in LA, with the Trojans winning 49-10. The first play of the game was a 75-yard touchdown from Matt Barkley to Marqise Lee. Many thought it was a harbinger. Many were wrong. Will be interesting to see how Taylor Graham, a QB transfer from Ohio State, factors in.

I like Hawaii in a surprising nail biter 24-21 over USC - they are playing the Trojans at home this time and on the road last year the Trojans could not run against our defense with a healthy Moses Samia-hard to believe one guy made such a difference however he was the one who got hurt in that second game and the run defense was never the same the rest of the season. Plus Hawaii should be much improved from last year.
