I was at the Warriors first spring game under Norm Chow in late April. It was strange watching the Warriors run different offensive sets using a fullback and tight end. The run and shoot has become the staple of Hawaii’s offense since 1999 when June Jones implemented it in his first season as head coach. While the offense put up great numbers and helped the program gain unprecedented success, there were times when a more efficient, consistent running attack was needed. Especially in games against BCS level oppoents like a Georgia or even conference foe Boise State. An improved running game was already noted in the spring game.
