However, if it's not a seventh home game, the 13th game makes no sense. I'd rather our boys get a bye in that case. Get 6 and a Bowl and play their 13th as a Bowl.Kama'aina UH wrote:Everyone knows about the NCAA "Hawaii Rule". If we do not play 13 the whole nation is going to be calling us a bunch of wussies! Our team is young, we need the experience even if it is a loss. We need to be planting the seeds now so we can reap what we sew in 2013.

With all of this conference realignment going on, with most of them having a conference championship game, plus some of them playing 9 conference games to go with the championship game, Jim Donovan needs to declare a hardship on UH scheduling and ask the NCAA to add an extra week at the beginning of the season for all teams and make it a 15 week regular season schedule. This will make it easier for all teams to schedule UH without losing one of their bye week. For those teams that don't play UH, they will have that extra bye week and it will make their scheduling much easier also. Teams that play at UH will still have 2 bye weeks in the regular season, while teams that don't play at UH will have 3 bye weeks.
A few years ago, the freaking NCAA gave all teams a 12th game, but didn't extend an extra week in the season. With this current 14 week regular season schedule, most of the schools don't want to lose that bye week by playing an extra game and leave them with only one bye week in a season. Some of the teams were unable to schedule a 13th game when playing at UH because they either don't want to lose that bye week or, had a hard time finding teams to play them because of the same reason about losing a bye week.
The most important thing about adding an extra week to the schedule is that, it gives student athletes for all schools more time in classes during the regular season. If the NCAA really care about the student athletes education, they should consider adding this extra week to the season.

The only way this would work is if Jim can switch South Alabama to another open week and bring in the Irish the last game of the season.KAILUABOYS96734 wrote:Rumor has it that the University of Notre Dame may be intrested in playing Hawaii this year.........
BTW that would be Manti's last regular season game and last time to have an opportunity to play in Aloha stadium.. the Irish open at a game in Ireland
