With Miah Ostowski now practicing with the Men's BBall team and going full time after the Hawaii Bowl, I was wondering about other who played Football and another sport at Manoa..

I could not think of many. In fact I could only remember Nate Jackson successfully played both football and baseball. There was also another baseball player in the 90's who did well in both sport, but I forgot his name.

Others who tried 2 sports and eventually settled for one or none:
Ikaika Alama-Francis, Tony Akpan, Rykin Enos, Leroy Lutu gave up Basketball to play Football
Marquez Jackson trried both Football and Basketball. Bball didn't pan out and then wasn't invited back to football.
Ervin Sione tried out for Volleyball before his GS Football scholie kicked in. Vball didn't pan out and now he's not on the football team.
Kevin Gilbride gave up Football to play Baseball
Kalani Brackenridge was recruited for Football but opted to play Baseball.
Davone Bess considered Baseball but stuck with football because he said he needed to concentrate on one sport

did robbie blakeney (i don't remember the spelling) play both football and baseball? I could be wrong about that one. troy bowe said he was gonna try football when his basketball eligibility ran out, but i don't think it ever happened. delano thomas from the vball team went out for spring ball a few years back but i don't think it went any further than that.

I think Micah Kroeger tried out in the spring at WR after his b-ball career was over but it didn't work out. There was talk of Alika Smith trying out as a P for the baseball team but it never happened.

If you think long enough, you will come up with a bunch. In addition to those already named in this thread:

Sam Johnson - played football after completing his eligibility in basketball.
Erik Evans - played slot (the running kind), gave up football to play CF for Coach Les, then transferred to Pepperdine I think.
Jason Ross - played safety, then played OF for Coach Les
Carlos Anderson - played CB, then OF/designated base stealer for Coach Les

For the football guys who were okayed to play baseball, they seemed to end up quitting football. They certainly upped the athleticism on the diamond, though.

The women's volleyball/basketball double seems to work the most. Tara Hittle was the most recent example. A number of Dave Shoji's players were such two sport athletes in high school (as you know, he recruits athletes) and probably could have bolstered the basketball team. One that comes to mind was MB Kari Gregory, who was a first team All-Stater in basketball in Nevada. However, they seem to specialize in one sport nowadays with club teams playing year round. Thus, Jane Croson is a volleyball player (and quite polished coming out of high school).

Now, back on topic - if UH had men's track, I think we'd have WRs who don the pointed spikes in the spring. Any maybe some OL or DL who threw the discus or shot.

Didn't Brian Belcher play linebacker for the football team and pitch for the baseball team?
