Individually, Pilares is #4 and Salas #18 in receiving:

but watch out for Royce Pollard--I think he is going to have a break out season!

Should be an interesting year in terms of those stats. I hope it all translates to wins also.

The "W"s are the only stats that matter to me at the end of the season, the other stats are more "gee whiz".

Tell you what.. let's get to No. 1 in offense... and keep it there.. then work on the defense to bring that up against the rush and pass... if we can get our defense in the upper third of the nation and keep our offense in the top 5, we will win a whole lot of games.

We all want to win and we all know that the W is the most important thing, but I like this thread because it's showing us how we are ranking in individual areas compared to the entire nation. #1 in Passing is pretty awesome. I hope we can keep the team rushing above 120yards in every game.

Me too. Winning matters more than stats. They look good on paper.

Hawaii #5 in Total Offense in the Nation, #1 in Pass Offense

Post by tom-WarriorNation »

#1 in Pass Offense!!!

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/s ... &year=2010

If we did this to USC (mostly 5 star recruits and Parade All-Americans); we should be able to do this against anybody! A big shout out to Nick Rolovich, Mouse Davis, OL coach Gordy Shaw, & strength coach Tommy Heffernan!

Let's hope our defense can step it up a few notches also--seems like they are stuck in 1st gear.

Offensive wins games.... Defense wins championships!!! Although we'll probably NEVER see a top 5 defense in Hawaii - getting to the upper third would do the trick. Something to think about: The Warriors got the results last week (and for most of the past ten seasons) by playing guys that for the most part were overlooked (or ignored) by the larger (read: richer) programs. Many (like Moniz), were walk-ons. The sufficient size, speed, and athletic skill is there... all they needed was an offensive system to overcome their inherent weaknesses to take on so-called "superior teams". This they are doing VERY WELL.

There's no comparable defensive scheme to the Run&Shoot / Kiko offense. The Warriors will have to adjust week by week to every possible offensive scheme devised thus far. I believe the athletic talent is there - it's just a matter of experience, good adjustments from week to week, and sticking to basic fundamentals.

When you run the run n shoot you put a lot of pressure on your defense which is why I don't like it.

The services run the spread and option like Wagner used to do. With the right personnel you eat up the clock and don't wear out your defense.

And, c'mon, one game and we're bragging about our offense ranking? Not everyone has even played a game yet!
