Jared Lene, no longer a Warrior

Post by BigWave96744 »

When doing the Online Media Guide, I saw a mention of Jared Lene at Memphis
http://www.football.com/player/jaredlene_8278.html

Then I realized that whether it be at practice or looking at the Current UH Roster and Warrior Bowl Roster, Jared Lene's name is absent from all.
He redshirted the '06 year and was on the scout team last year as a RSFrosh.
My assumption is Jared Lene is no longer a Warrior.

there might be more after today. on bobby currans show this morning, Coach Mac said they will be cutting the roster to 100 (includes 25 coming in fall). he said he will leave 5 free for now and see how the bubble guys do in the summer. i thought it was a good idea to promote competition and hard work in the summer.

he also said that there will some scholarship athletes that will be let go. he said UH will honor their scholies, but he will help them look for other places to go to. said they don't fit into the direction UH is going.

hmmmmm

I heard Coack Mack on BC this morning, too (Coach Mack was on L&L later this morning, too - talk about giving them equal time). My take was not that certain scholarship players would be let go, but that Mack would inform them of their minimal future role and either honor their scholarship if they still wanted to stay or grant them a release and assist them in locating another school to transfer. I was listening to the interview while navigating through rush hour, so my recollection could be off.

I think that Mack mentioned on both BC and on L&L that cutting down the roster is the toughest part of coaching at any level. He has to make room for the 25 new players who will come in for Fall Camp. He also stated that some from the Spring Practice who are not invited to Fall Camp will be added on when school starts. For those who wish to try out again next Spring, he will let them know what they need to do to improve.

Who ever "THEY" are, let's support them where ever they go.
It must be really hard on the coaches to let a kid go, especially if they are good kids...
It must be especially hard on the kid to leave this island and their friends...

Before passing away, Mitch Farney was a scholie guy who was going to transfer to Weber St.

Big Wave,
Good reporting. We confirmed with UH on Monday that Jared is gone.
Thanks for the tip,
Dave

WHY? Don't know why, but don't be surprised if you see a few more former recruits being "Dismissed" from the team
Where? Don't know the validity of the link, but I posted he may have gone to Memphis

its tough but i think Mac is doing the right thing. If he knows already that the player is not going to have any meaningfull chance to contribute, he needs to let them know now and let them find other places to play.
