Looking for a new TV for the kids

Looking for a new TV for the kids play area at home. It will be mostly for video games. About 40-50" and rather "cheap." The most advance game system is PS4, and the lowest is the old Wii. So I figure as long as 1080p, that enough, correct? Also is LCD or Plasma better for games?
Maybe watch some TV, like streaming, Netflix, and DVD.
What other specs should I look for? I assume HDMI ports will be an issue, since I think many low line TV only comes with two ports.
No plans for 4K or anything fancy.
