This is great news. Wonder if Gabi will be back? I know he was a junior but I don't know if he will fit in the LDS culture.

Not everyone who attends BYU is Mormon. So long as they can suck it up for 4-5 years they can cut loose after graduation. Jim McMahon comes to mind as a prominent athlete who made it out. In any case, the discipline needed to be a student-athlete at BYU may be good for Gabi in the long run.

As of more recent is Fred Warner who is non-white was a four year LB for BYU and is one of the top LB'ers for the 49ers. For me, I can say just about anything to a jack Mormon but I always watch the tone of my conversations with practicing LDS'ers. Utah just changed their drinking law to .06 BAC in 2019. I don't watch a lot of volleyball games but I do remember that Gabi got warned for his language by the referee during the UH-BYU match. So, it will be interesting to see if he returns or turns pro next year.

2022. They play next Friday. 25th, March 2022. CSUN at SimpliFi arena Stan Sheriff Center at UH Lower Campus, Manoa. 16-3 this year is pretty good. 17-1 in 2021 and a national title is pretty good. Looking to see if they can defend their title this year in 2022.

if being the best in the country and winning a national title is just 'pretty good', what would it take to be considered 'good'?

they have a good shot this year. been watching several games and I like the new guys they picked up.

A lot of new faces in the starting line up who had minimal playing time last year. They still need to gel and find their go to hitters. Lost a lot of experience and talent from last season. But they still have the remainder of their conference matches to find the magic.

Humler comes in when there's an injury to one of the starting outside hitters or if one is having an off night.
Spyros Chakas reminds me of the original Greek Freak in Costas Theocharidas of having hops and the knack for hitting the ball off the defender's block to go out of bounds.

interesting bracket. I feel Hawaii's got a pretty good shot at getting to the final. (and possibly another national championship!)

Warriors are pretty stacked at outside hitter and opposite. A good problem to have when someone as skilled as Humler can't crack the lineup. IMHO if he could pass more consistently he would have been OH2 over Galloway.

The rivalry between UH and Long Beach St. will continue for the few years. This time Long Beach St. has a right-handed Rado in Nikolov, and UH has a left-handed DeFalco in Mouchlias.
