Sandbows Earn No. 2 Seed At AVCA National Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sand volleyball team was awarded the No. 2 seed heading into the AVCA National Championships beginning May 1 in Gulf Shores, Ala. The announcement came on Monday from the AVCA National Championship Selection Committee.

Joining the 'Bows for the team competition are top-seeded Southern California, Stetson, Georgia State, Pepperdine, Florida International, Florida State, and Long Beach State. UH is 2-1 against the field this season including an opening-day win against defending national champion and then-No. 1 Pepperdine.

The team championship will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2. Each school fields five doubles teams ranked in order and plays the corresponding pair from an opponent. The tournament format is double-elimination with a sudden death final four. The championship match is slated for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. CT (11:00 a.m. HT)
