Basebows 2015: Game 1, We Got Whupped

Post by GoBows2014 »

Game 1 of 2015 against Oregon Ducks
We got whupped pretty bad. Nice night,
only brief showers in early innings,
and a good crowd for opening night.

It was live on OC16 so nobody needs
much in the way of details. I just
hope Trap is not too hard on the
guys since most of the runs were
due to weak defense rather than
weak pitching. We had three or
four errors throwing to 1st base
on infield "shoulda'-been" outs,
plus a few errors in the outfield
that gave them extra runs they
obviously didn't need.

Other than Ventemilia and Aliviado,
seems like everyone else fumbled
at least one tonight, but c'mon,
first game of the season, and for
most of these kids it is their 1st
game above Community College level.

Only real disappointment of the night?
We could not get a run. Got a few hits
but could not put anything together for
scores. Marcus Doi started and played
the entire game, and we were getting
some great contact on the ball, just
hitting them right to the D. Pitching
for the Ducks did not *look* that hard
but based on our hitting, it must have
been, Oregon only used 2 pitchers all
night and we didn't do much against
either one. Tough opener for the 'Bows,
three more to go in the series, we'll
see if the defense can settle in and
also if the bats can heat up.

Hope so on both counts.

Go Bows
