I don't see anyone beating Terukina this year that kid is something special Kamehameha is more then likely taking home the team title this year I don't see any school that can compete with them this year on the boys & girls side
At Pa'ani, Skye Realin knocked off Estrella-Beauchamp at 127. Nanea Estrella bumped all the way up to 138 and beat Miguel in a pretty exciting back and forth match.
Again, anybody know if Nishigaya from Iolani is wrestling this year? I haven't seen him on the mat yet.

On the p4p list I don't understand how Porter is still @ 10 when he beat a state champ & the #2 p4p @the time to win Official's & how does Desantos who wasn't even ranked end up ranked higher then Porter

Kamehameha being so dominant on the boys and girls side is really killing this thread

Re: 2018-19 Wrestling season
State Qualifiers are coming up. What are the picks for favorites in each weight class? Who do you have the most confidence in? Who are the dark horses(are there any)?
This group should be almost 100% confidence:
106 - Stefanelli(PUN)
126 - Terukina(KSK)
160 - Tapia(KSK) if he stays there
-----------------------------------------------
This group will have to fight for it because of tough challengers(some have already lost as well):
182 - Huddy(KSK) if he stays there
170 - Leong(KLH)
145 - Wusstig(MOA)
152 - Pagurayan(KPO)
132 - Ursua(STL)
220 - Ai(KSK)
195 - Ane(KSK)
285 - Bollig(KSK)
113 - Tomisato(KSK)
120 - Ravida(BAL)
138 - Desantos(LEI)
Have to think about the girls choices a little more, but any thoughts?

There isn't anyone that I seen so far that will give Leong a challenge @ 170
@ 120 I'm going with Porter
@ 132 I think Borges has a good shot if he can get thru the tournament with out reinjuring his ankle again
Re: 2018-19 Wrestling season
I think Porter should do it as well, just not sure how much Ravida has improved since last year. Also, if Tapia is at 152, I don't know who to go with at 160. It was pretty much him and then everyone else. Now 152 just became more difficult, kind of. Kamehameha already had a top 3 guy at the weight, now they are replacing him with a . . . top 3 guy and then 160 has a top 5 guy instead of a likely champion. 152 now has 2 state runners up and a champion. Should be interesting. Borges definitely would be a threat if healthy.Rds wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 9:43 pmI know Tapia is wrestling @ 152 not 160wkrp wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 9:16 am State Qualifiers are coming up. Last year Porter was winning by points he made a mistake & got caught I'm sure he won't let that happen again 152 should be interesting especially since Tapia beat Pagurayan 15-3 then lost to him the following week in real close match then add Taam to the mixwkrp wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 11:42 amI think Porter should do it as well, just not sure how much Ravida has improved since last year. Re: 2018-19 Wrestling season
I say no way Borges wins 132, even if healthy. I don't think he beats St. Louis, Punahou, Iolani, or Kamehameha. He's good, but we'll see if he even wins the OIA first. I also haven't seen Leong seriously be challenged by anyone this year yet either.Rds wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 9:43 pmI know Tapia is wrestling @ 152 not 160wkrp wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 9:16 am State Qualifiers are coming up. @FlyingSquirrel808: I hope you and other wrestling fans keep posting results. Some schools that I don't like, are winning in basketball and soccer, and I'm getting really pissed. I'm hoping schools I like, will win in wrestling.FlyingSquirrel808 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 8:16 am Anybody got any news on recent weight class changes or injuries?

Boys:
113-Ramos probably doesn't make finals. Not sure who does, but Ramos almost lost in finals of Westerns(still might be best call).
132-Should be close tourney, but I think Borges gets it done over either Okura or Zheng(Aiea)
220-I think Hanohano has a chance at this weight. Beat Lista at Official's to win it. But who knows because they all seem pretty close.
Girls:
102-Funakoshi over Terukina
107-Mahoe over Mangrobang, although Javier will definitely have a say.
Teams: Girls-Moanalua over Campbell, Boys-Moanalua over Kapolei but both will be very close. The girls race is probably Moanalua's to lose because they have a more complete line up although Campbell's lightweights are pretty powerful. The boys race will probably be super tight though. Moanalua and Kapolei could both possibly have 5 finalists a piece and it will probably come down to head to heads or bonus. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
ILH Championship is also this weekend. Should be great wrestling all around.
