Some updated QB statistics through Week 3 (Aug. 25).

Reece Foy: The ‘Iolani senior has completed 50 of his 69 pass attempts for 712 yards, 10 touchdowns and no picks. His passer rating is 206.97. The highest rating in recent years was 189.98 by Saint Louis' Marcus Mariota (2010).

The skinny: Almost impossible to top this three-game run by the scrambling slinger. Then again, he barely played against Hawaii Prep, so these stats would've been (probably) even bigger.

Jarin Morikawa, MIL

The skinny: I had to do a double check and a triple check on the passer rating, but it comes down to this — Jarin's rating is fairly low because he's averaging less than 5.4 yards per attempt. That's a low, low number, but in the grand scheme, all Mililani needs from him is to keep the turnovers low. A pass by him is basically better than a handoff to a running back, which is true for a growing number of teams. We're a long way from the old ground-and-pound Wishbone attack days of the OIA West.

The skinny: "Tui" has a passer rating that would be third in 2010, when Marcus Mariota was dominant at the position. Though his completion percentage isn't spectacular, the lack of turnovers and a whopping 8.95 yards per attempt average figure into that rating.

The skinny: He's cemented his status as the lead QB at Kamehameha, even though his rating isn't supremely high. Like Tuileta, the key for Kamehameha is keeping the turnover number down. He could peak in the second half of the season, much like T.C. Campbell did during the state-title run of 2009.

The skinny: He's bigger than most of his linemen, and he's only a junior, but his accuracy and control are approaching elite level. The only issue for doubters is Radford's Division II schedule, but sooner or later, the big tests will arrive.

The skinny: Hot and cold so far, had all four of his picks in one game. Waianae's ground attack has struggled so far, which means the weight of the offense is on the senior's shoulders.

The skinny: He has what is arguably the most potent rushing attack in the state, but his accuracy and poise have stood out as a sophomore. Smooth, almost Stabler-like with that southpaw delivery. He, too, will be tested at some point.

The skinny: His game against ‘Iolani opened a lot of eyes, but it's the low turnover number that stands out. A season ago, he threw seven picks in a state-tourney game on a sub-standard, muddy field at War Memorial Stadium (Maui). The junior has clearly matured since.

The skinny: Like Camanse-Stevens, Jenks began the season splitting time in the pocket. His preparation helped the Mules start nonconference play almost without a hitch. They will miss Kenan Sadanaga, last year's all-state offensive player of the year, but Jenks will ease the blow.

The skinny: He's coming along nicely after staying off the football field for the past two seasons. The Cougars and first-year head coach Rich Miano have made a commitment to the passing game and Lyman is among the state's leaders in pass attempts.
