Jeff Garcia should be introduced as the Eagles' new backup quarterback today, sources close to the situation said... George Mavrikes, agent for Carolina free-agent defensive tackle Brentson Buckner, said the Eagles are among the teams he has talked to about his 34-year-old client, but "nothing solid'' has emerged. Buckner, a high-mileage, 12-year veteran, has missed just one game the past two seasons and nine games over the past seven seasons. He certainly could still play a role in a rotation, and provide leadership. The Eagles' interest might hinge on their success trading DT Hollis Thomas. Buckner is a close friend and mentor to Rod Hood, who yesterday said he thinks Buckner would be a great fit with the Birds.
