SUBWAY® Restaurants Honor Hawaii’s 2005 Little League World Series Champions at Hula Bowl

- Little League Champions Will Also Party With Hula Bowl Players Today

Honolulu, HAWAII (January 17, 2006) – Almost five months after winning the 2005 Little League World Series, the West Oahu Champions are finally going to receive their game day jerseys thanks to Subway restaurants in Hawaii. The restaurant chain specially purchased the jerseys for the players and will honor the Ewa Beach team at this year’s Hula Bowl.

The World Series champions and their families have been invited to attend the Hula Bowl, where they will be awarded their jerseys during the pre-game show on Saturday, January 21st at 1:30pm. Subway Oahu Franchise Board Chair Linda Painter will be presenting the jerseys to each team member.

Festivities kickoff today with a VIP barbeque at Waikiki Beach where the Ewa Beach world champions will get the chance to hang loose and meet their favorite college senior All-Star football players, while chowing down on some great Island-Style barbeque.

The Ewa Beach players won their first World Series title against defending champion Curacaoa back on August 28th, 2005 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. However, the players were unable to keep their game day jerseys because of national league regulations and funding for duplicate jerseys.

Subway Hawaii, a Hula Bowl sponsor, heard the team could not afford their jerseys, so the restaurant chain contacted the Little League international headquarters and made arrangements to cover the costs.
