all-time
ESPn actually had something on this recently. It was a tournament in which people voted on the winner of hypothetical match-ups between college teams each with their all-time greatest players.

http://unc23.com/index.htmSixteen former Tar Heels have made an NBA team this season, the most of any college team. Arizona is second
with 13, followed by Georgetown, Kentucky, Kansas and Georgia Tech with 10 each.
Six former Tar Heels have had their jersey numbers retired by NBA teams, the most of any school
Carolina has more players in pro basketball than any other school
In the 90's we've produced 9 first round NBA draft picks, with 16 players in the NBA right now
North Carolina is second in all-time wins with 1,723 (Kentucky has 1,735)
Carolina has had 39 MacDonald's All-Americans (more than any other school)
I don't know when this site was last updated... Could have been a few years ago

http://www.sportingnews.com/archives/sp ... -team.htmlMichael Jordan, G
1982-84 TSN's Player of the Year in 1983 and 1984 ranks second in 3-point percentage (.447) and averaged "only" 17.7 points per game over three years.
Phil Ford, G
1975-78 Three-time Sporting News All-American and TSN's 1978 Player of the Year is first in scoring (2,290 points) and second in assists (753); redefined "Ford Corners" offense.
Sam Perkins, C
1981-84 A three-time TSN All-American and 1984 Olympian, "Big Smooth" owns UNC records for career rebounds (1,167) and blocks (245) and ranks second in points (2,145).
James Worthy, F
1980-82 "Big Game James" remains the only Tar Heel named MVP of ACC Tournament, NCAA regional and Final Four in same season.
Antawn Jamison, F
1996-98 TSN's 1998 Player of the Year is only player in ACC history named first-team All-ACC as freshman, sophomore and junior.
Dean Smith, Coach
1962-97 The winningest coach in Division I history with 879 victories and led UNC to two national titles, 11 Final Fours, 13 ACC Tournament titles, 17 ACC regular-season titles, 24 Top Ten finishes and 27 NCAA Tournament appearances. Smith's teams won 25 or more games in a season an NCAA-record 22 times.
TEAM 1982 North Carolina watches as Sam Perkins battles Georgetown center Patrick Ewing; a young man many later would call "The Greatest Ever" hits "The Shot"; and James Worthy makes "The Steal" to seal Dean Smith's first national championship.
REMEMBER this are for what they did in college....

For GTown, replace Sleepy Floyd with Reggie Williams.guaransballbearins wrote:UCLA - Baron Davis, Reggie Miller, Bill Walton, Lew Alcinder, Gail Goodrich
Kansas - Kirk Hinrich, Paul Pierce, Danny Manning, Raef LaFrentz, Wilt Chamberlain
Georgetown - Sleepy Floyd, Allen Iverson, Alonzo Mourning, Patrick Ewing, Dikembe Mutombo.
Thats all I can think of right now.
For Kansas, replace Kirk Hinrich with Jacque Vaughn.
For UCLA, replace Baron Davis with Tyus Edney.

Some others. Are we going with a normal 5 or are you asking regardless of position? I'm only taking into account players who played in the era of the shot clock and/or three point shot. This is off the top of my head so if I miss anybody you think should be on here, let me know. For some positions I couldn't decide on a no. 1. Too many good players.

Re: Best 5 All Time
Vince Carter would be on there only for what he accomplished in the NBA. Now if this was the all-time Carolina Dunk Team, then Vinsanity would be #1 or #1a. The same really for 'Sheed. I'd put Antawn Jamison on there before 'Sheed. Heck I'd put Brad Daugherty before 'Sheed. Jamison is top 10 in career scoring and boards and he only played 3 years. Stack maybe, but he only played two years. I'd go with this:browndog wrote:Can anyone think of a school whose top 5 all time team is better than North Carolinas?

Can anybody think of some good frontcourt players for Michigan St.? Maybe some of the Spartan fans can add in here. I can only think of MSU guards for some reason:
PG: Steve Smith or Mateen Cleaves
SG: Shawn Respert
Please no JRich suggestions. He wasn't THAT good in College. And Zach Randolph played one year so he doesn't count.
