RUMBLE ON THE ROCK GRAND PRIX

Post by PCBoy »

Rumble on the Rock has put some great cards together in the past, but their upcoming Rumble on the Rock Grand Prix will be the best show the promotion has put together. In the 8 man tournament in the 175 pound weight class you have a former King of the Cage Champion, UFC Champion, Shooto Champions, WFA Champion and possibly a fighter who has competed in Pride.

Rumble on the Rock has signed Jake Shields to face Dave Menne. They have also signed Charuto Verissimo who will most likely face Carlos Condit who has an impressive 13-2 record. Frank Trigg will face UFC veteran Ronald “Machine Gun” Jhun in an interesting clash of styles in the first round. The big match that Rumble on the Rock is hoping to pull off is Anderson Silva. Silva’s management has been talking with ROTR for quite awhile and a deal could be done very soon. If Silva does sign the deal, he most likely will be paired up with Japanese fighter Yushin Okami, who has a stellar 13-2 record. Okami’s losses came to Niko Vitale in a split decision as well as Amar Suloev. The tournament will take place over two months, January and April.

In addition to the tournament, there are some good fights on the card as well. Cabbage Correria just won a fight in Guam this weekend. He returns to fight in Hawaii on the ROTR card. TUF 2 veteran Jason Von Flue looks forward to his next fight against BJ Penn student Ross “Da Boss” Ebanez. Butterbean will also be featured on the card.

Here is the projected card for Rumble on the Rock on January 20th from the Blaisdale Arena in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii.

Rumble World GP
Anderson Silva VS Yushin Okami
Charuto VS Carlos Condit
Jake Shields VS Dave Menne
Ronald Jhun VS Frank Trigg

Other matches on the card
Butterbean VS TBA
Cabbage VS TBA
Ross DA Boss VS Jason Von Flue
Scott Junk VS Myles Tynnanes

Damn, this looks to be the best MMA card that Hawaii has ever had. I know everyone here is jumping on the Mayhem bandwagon, but most MMA fans would probably agree that Silva would make this an awesome card.
