I don't get the high for Brennan and thinking he's a capable P5 HC Candidate.....
Brent Brennan Career HC
2017 (2–11) 1–7 T–5th (West)
2018 (1–11) 1–7 6th (West)
2019 (5–7) 2–6 T–4th (West)
2020 (7–0) 6–0 T–1st Arizona Bowl
Total: (15–29)
He's upward trending. He had to build San Jose from the ground up. Look where he started and look what he did to Boise today.
up and coming, 15-29, coach? Just my opinion, he needs to show consistency and win at least two more seasons. Any AD that would spend millions of dollars on a coach with a losing record is gambling and odds are will get himself fired. If that is the best that Arizona, a P5, PAC12, school can get then the PAC12 has fallen from the top echelons of college football.
I just read Boise's Bronco Board (247) and there is a Fire Harsin thread, 5 pages and 110 comments long of reading bliss. I love it. I love to see everything with Boise unravel. The sentiment of the comments is very unbiased. Most of the posters now hate the coach, the trajectory of the program, and how the big man on campus threw the schools administration under the bus in those e-mails. The vibe is that Harsin should put his ego to better use on putting a good team on the field (first). That tipping point for Boise is losing to San Jose in the MWC Championship Game, which lit the fire. I just loved watching Boise go up in flames that game with the SJ QB throwing for 453 yards and the defense lead by Fehoko and Hill limiting Boise's rushing game to 12 total yards (24 carries). That was great. To top things off Boise then declines a Bowl invite, which is their prerogrative, citing a weird year and having key players out with injuries. To which I say it has been a weird year for all teams, and having key injuries is part of the game, but you have to respect the teams that have taken a beating and got back up (like Hawaii, and Coach Graham) and accepted their bowl invites.
Auburn fired Malzahn with a 68-34 record. they obviously think they should be better than they are. Maybe that's why they got Harsin, who thought Boise was better than others thought they were.
i don't think he can take that trickery offense to the SEC tho. athleticism will crush the trick plays with speed and power. at least he'll be rich.
Big payday in a big time conference! Take the money and run!! After all his talk about getting his team into a bigger conference, Harsin does it himself.
I'm not going to be watching Auburn football because Harsin took the job. He just doesn't excite me. Chris Peterson on the other hand was a winning coach moving from BSU to UW. He did an excellent job of recruiting and keeping UW competitive in the Pac-12. Chris Peterson had personality and class. Harsin did not impress me but he inherited a great infrastructure that was started by Peterson.
