Wouldn't be surprised if Wa'a and/or Bowers end up at Wazzu…..since both were Mark Banker recruits.

Not a good season to enter transfer portal whatever year people are in, they get another year of eligibility. So, less scholarships for Power-5 or Group-5 to give out. Hopefully, they get good walk-on opportunities locally.

BTW I noticed that Wazzu has as many (total of 2) Class of 2020 local HS walk-ons (Carter Kamana & Micah Lilo) while another MWC opponent Nevada has even more (total of 3) Class of 2020 local HS walk-ons (Jonah Chong, Micah Camat & Micah Lilo) than UH does (with Koali Nishgaya & Asher Pilanca).

Probably not a good way to look at it but it allows UH to offer either two more scholarships or allow two more starting seniors a chance to play another year.

it's probably about playing time. There is good depth at OL and LB and they are behind some good players. Graham may also be looking at more size at OL and LB. OLs that are 6'4+ and LBs that are 6'2+

Are there any success stories from players that entered the transfer portal? Most you never heard of again. Everyone think they are hot stuff, but maybe they are just not good enough.

Max Wittek left USC to come to Hawaii. Maybe there was a reason why USC didn't start him. Chow just love USC (brand) too much, where everything from USC must be good.
Drew Brown left UH. We already speculated the many reasons. Run and Shoot or not. He give up the job as starting QB.
Same with Dillon Collier. I'll say that he was the best UH receiver at the time, #1 option. Sure he got some playing time at BYU, but I think Run and Shoot would have exploded his numbers.

Agree with most of this post. But Dru Brown would have floundered in the run and shoot. Dylan Collie had hands of stone. I watched part of one of his BYU games and he dropped at least one or two passes during the short time that I watched. Max Wittek had a chance to prove himself but although he had a really strong arm he did not have any touch or finesse. These UH players who entered the portal this year have not had very much playing time so I figure that if they find a school that it would be a step or two down in divisions. I do thank them for being Warriors and their commitment while they were here.

Too bad about Wa’a. One of our most versatile olineman. I wish him the best.

Dru spent most of his time on the sidelines behind OSUs starting QB last year, but he played more after the QB went down near the end of the season. He helped his team win the game against West Virginia after starter got hurt then started the last 2 games in which they lost to 2 very good teams. Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
