San Diego State head football coach Tom Craft was fired today, and the decision will be announced in a 1:30 p.m. news conference today at the school, The San Diego Union-Tribune has learned.
The Aztecs players were informed of the move today by Athletic Director Jeff Schemmel after finishing the season 5-7 with a loss to Hawaii late Saturday night. The search for a replacement will begin immediately and could last two weeks.
Craft, whose record at SDSU was 19-29, had one year left on this contract. According to his contract, he will be owed approximately $140,000 for the remaining year on his deal and could be reassigned to another position in the university.
