FORT COLLINS — A second go-round with an SEC coordinator didn’t pan out for CSU, as Mike Bobo failed to replicate predecessor Jim McElwain’s success. Which raises the question:
Will the Rams go for a third time and hope it’s a charm? Or will they turn in a different direction for Bobo’s successor? Here’s a quick look at five potential candidates with Bobo out at CSU:
1. Tony Alford, Ohio State assistant head coach/running backs coach. The no-brainer. A CSU alum and former Rams running back from 1987-90, Alford interviewed for the position that went to Bobo in December 2014. 247Sports named him a finalist for recruiter of the year while at Notre Dame in 2011.
2. Nick Rolovich, Hawaii head coach. Got his alma mater, the Rainbow Warriors, back off the mat and into the Mountain West Conference championship game. Like Bobo, a prolific former college quarterback. Unlike Bobo, someone already familiar with recruiting the West Coast and familiar with the Mountain West from the get-go. Recent assault charges could complicate things, though.

Fresno HC Tedford and Colorado State HC Bobo stepping down
Two of the highest paid MWC head coaches are stepping down.

Tedford's coaching staff is scheduled to meet Friday morning, and a team meeting will follow, where players are expected to be informed of the situation. Assistant coaches were told to return from recruiting trips for the meeting, sources said.
https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... rado-stateMike Bobo and Colorado State reached a mutual separation agreement that will end the coach's tenure with the Rams, athletic director Joe Parker said Wednesday.
Bobo, who intends to pursue other opportunities, went 28-35 in five seasons at Colorado State, including a 7-17 mark the past two years. The Rams ended their season at 4-8 with a loss Friday against Boise State.

The Tedford situation is interesting as there is no implied reason for stepping down. I wonder if he just wants to retire to a better area because of his health condition?

Thanks uhwarriors. I had suspicions that if it were health issues, he would be moving out to Monterey or San Luis Obispo. Or, if it were job related, then he would be moving back to the Pac-12 with either UCLA or USC.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 9:31 pmhttps://twitter.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/status/1202810228649156608

While Lane Kiffin might still be a candidate for the Arkansas HC job.....maybe he might now be interested in returning back to his alma mater where he was back-up QB and eventually also was an assistant coach.uhwarriors wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 9:31 pmhttps://twitter.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/status/1202810228649156608

The question is, will he lure back Corey Batoon, who was Lane's DC at FAU and previously served on staff at Ole Miss

Actually it says that CSU and Bobo came to a mutual agreement but if he got the buyout, that's a pretty good chunk of change. $5.5M. One thing about Fresno is that I think they have a big heart especially for Tedford who played for them so I don't know if they'd give him a partial buyout. I found the buyouts of coaches in the MWC to be pretty interesting.

The fact Fort Fart hadn't beaten any of their three biggest rivals - CU-Boulder, AFA, and of course, WYOMING, in 12 tries in the last four years was probably the main reason he got canned. Sad they let him go. Fort Fart was a sure fire win for my Pokes. Re: MWC Coaching Changes
We will eventually lose Rolo. There is no financial commitment from the State, the University and it's fans.
If Rolo leaves it will be a deal he can't pass up. I don't see any big teams coming after Rolo. Big schools don't want the R&S. Rolo hasn't shown that he can beat good teams. Why Colorado State? Why UNLV? I don't think so unless the money is so much that he can't pass it up. From a coaching perspective not much of a program upgrade.
There is an expiration date on all coaches. Eventually he has to take the money. To go to a big school program he has to show that he can beat big teams consistently.
