After retiring from the head coaching job at San Diego State, Rocky long wasn’t willing to say he was done coaching – he was just done with being a head coach.

Today, New Mexico head coach Danny Gonzales announced that Long was joining his staff as defensive coordinator via Twitter

Whoa, back to New Mexico.
Cats don't have owners. Cats have servants.

Wouldn't have mind seeing him out here but I think Santa Cruz will do just fine.

I think there's a love affair with Gonzales and Long. Long was HC, Gonzales was DC at SDSU. Now roles are switched. So I think there's mutual respect and a fun working relationship there. Even with a losing record at UNM for Long, he has the winningest record. So, if they can get their offense on track, UNM might be a force in the MWC.

LOL We, on WyoNation, were hoping Long would be our new DC but....

Bohl still doesn't have a DC yet.

I think for some this is kind of a hobby. Being head coach involves a lot of responsibility. Defensive coordinator would just be fun for a guy with his experience.
