49ers defense is good, especially their front 4. Won't be so easy for the Chiefs to score.shrek2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 10:00 am I can't believe that KC is only favored by 1 in the Superbowl. Patrick Mahomes, right now, is the top quarterback in the NFL with his arm. One thing about KC is that once they are in the red zone, they will run crossing patterns which is actually pass interference but the referees don't see it. UH should take note of this especially since UH has problems scoring within 5 yards. The 49ers are really slow in developing a score because they rely on the run but Kansas City can score easily in 2 minutes. It should be a great game to watch.

Re: SF 49ers are being labelled as fools gold
49ers had a problem with Russell Wilson in both games they played him this year. Seahawks won by 3, 49ers won by 5 on a blown call. Mahomes is just like Wilson where he's able to elude the rush and find his open receivers. My own personal feeling is that Mahomes and Wilson is just a touch better than Rodgers although it may be just an age factor. Travis Kelce is about as good a tight end as George Kittle but I like Kittle better because he's an informal team leader. I think the problem that the 49ers defense and all defenses against teams that have with young running quarterbacks is they have to play physical, then chase and eventually they get worn out by the second half.

I hope it's KC that takes it all. They haven't been back the SB in nearly 50 years.

Re: SF 49ers are being labelled as fools gold
KC has always taken SF hand me down QBs in Joe Montana and Alex Smith and now they have their own superstar in Patrick Mahomes. When Joe was asked who he was rooting for in the Superbowl, he had to say both because it was a SF station but I think Joe does like the Kansas City ownership because they took him in when he was on the downhill.

Just learned that Chris Doleman, who played for the 49ers between 1996 and 1998, died. RIP

This is how money in gambling can change the odds. Somebody put a $550K bet on KC which caused the point spread to go from 1 to 1.5.

To me this game is interesting because of all the story lines. Old school football (49ers football running) against new school football (KC Chiefs air attack). Andy Reid is the sentimental favorite as the HC for the Chiefs because his players are playing for him and about 7 of his assistant coaches who went on to become head coaches are pulling for him. Also, since he lost his son in 2012, people are pulling for him.
My own personal interest in the game is following a few players in George Kittle, the defensive line and Richard Sherman who has become the Mohammed Ali of football.

DeForest Buckner may have just added incentive to KC by saying that he was tired of hearing about Patrick Mahomes and that he hasn't seen the speed of the 49ers front 4.

Seahawks would have been a better matchup than the 49ers against KC. The weakness in the quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo was exposed. If only they had picked Aaron Rodgers at #1 instead of Alex Smith. Oh well, Super Bowl is over and history. Running games can be boring.

You gotta like Patrick Mahomes even if you're a 49er fan. When asked if the Chiefs have a dynasty, he says its about improving each day.

Then he talks about Alex Smith who tutored him when he first got to the Chiefs. Lots of humility coming from a 24yo QB in the NFL.

Raheem Mostert, starting running back for the 49ers, should serve as an inspiration for all potential NFL players and never giving up. He started his pro career in 2015 as an undrafted free agent at 5'10.5". He only played special teams on kick coverage and kick returner but mostly on practice squads for four years. This year, he became the starting running back for the 49ers. And, even though he was starting running back, he still made tackles on punt coverage. Great story for the young man. I didn't know his story until I saw him make a hit on a punt return and wondered why he was on special teams.

Kyle Shanahan is being labelled by sports journalists/announcers as an offensive genius. But for the 49ers he is 0-24 when behind by 7 points or more in the second half. What is an offensive genius? To me, its all about down and distance and having the play to get the necessary yardage.

49ers put too much money after Jimmy Garoppolo was given a 5 year $25M/year contract after shining in the last six games of 2017. Now they're stuck with a below average QB and two more years of payroll. He went into his multi-million dollar contract by dating a porn star in LA. What a dufus.

Well, he went out with a 41yo porn star in LA. Right after signing the big contract. What a bust (so to speak) for the 49ers.wyokie wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:18 amI just googled what the "gf" looked like. Things like that are just a distraction from football.
