When Marussia driver Jules Bianchi sat down to be interviewed this past July for an episode of NBCSN’s “Off The Grid,” he was coming off his biggest moment to date in Formula One.

Back in May, Bianchi, a member of Ferrari’s Driver Academy and a potential future pilot for the Scuderia, had delivered a fabulous drive in Monaco to finish ninth and give Marussia its first-ever World Championship points.

The result was a breakthrough for Marussia and for Bianchi, who had once regarded attaining a chance to race in F1 as almost impossible.

Worry for stricken Formula One star Jules Bianchi has grown after the 25-year-old’s brother, sister, and best friend arrived in Japan to be at his bedside.

Bianchi remains in a “critical but stable” condition in hospital in Yokkaichi, after crashing into a recovery tractor at speed in last weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Tom and Melanie Bianchi arrived in Japan late on Thursday, heading for the Mie General Medical Centre.

Lewis Hamilton dedicates Russian GP win to Jules Bianchi

By Andrew Benson
Chief F1 writer in Sochi

Lewis Hamilton dedicated his Russian Grand Prix victory to Jules Bianchi, who remains in a critical condition with severe head injuries.

Hamilton said he had been thinking of the Frenchman ever since his crash in the Japanese Grand Prix a week ago.

"It would be great to dedicate it to him and his family," Hamilton said.

"It would make a very small difference to them, but every bit of positive energy hopefully will help. We all need to be sending positive vibes that way."

Has Formula 1 cracked the U.S. market in Austin?

How can Formula 1 succeed and flourish in America, the market that has always caused such a headache?

It’s the age-old argument that has been debated for decades, and despite being more suited to economists, it has a great deal of relevance to the money-spinning sport of that we know and love. It has been the ‘problem’ for many, and few have come up with a suitable answer.

Ever since the beginning of the official world championship back in 1950, the U.S. has always been a market that has been targeted and pointed at as being a lucrative outlet for Formula 1. It’s not somewhere it should or could go to, but must go to.

Hamilton makes it five-in-a-row by winning US GP in Austin

AUSTIN – Lewis Hamilton has taken a huge step towards winning his second Formula 1 world championship by winning today’s United States Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes teammate and title rival Nico Rosberg.

The British driver started the race from second place, but managed to find his way past following the first round of pit stops to move into a lead that he would only lose for one lap when pitting.

As a result, Hamilton’s championship lead has now extended to 24 points over Rosberg at the top of the standings.

At the start, Rosberg made a clean getaway to lead into the first corner from Hamilton and the two Williams drivers of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa. Despite coming under pressure from a fast-starting Fernando Alonso, Massa managed to hold onto fourth position as Daniel Ricciardo sought to recover the positions he lost at the start.

Jules Bianchi is still unconscious after Japan crash but Formula One star is breathing unaided, his parents reveal

By MARK BRYANS, PRESS ASSOCIATION
UPDATED: 12:44 EST, 30 December 2014

Jules Bianchi remains unconscious but breathing unaided following his horror crash at the Japanese Grand Prix in October, his parents have announced in a statement.

The Frenchman was left in a coma, suffering a severe head injury after his Marussia left the track and crashed head-on with a recovery tractor which was on hand to clear away the wreckage of Adrian Sutil's Sauber - which had left the track in the same position moments earlier.

The incident took place on lap 43 of an action-packed race, against the backdrop of the approaching Typhoon Phanfone and with a red-flag falling earlier in proceedings.
