Inspirational Koon Looks to Win Titles, People Through Bull

I read this story and wanted to share it with some of you Hawaiian Cowboys and sports fans who appreciate the sport of Bull Riding. I think you have to be a little light headed, missing marbles to do this sport.


“On June 12, 1999, Koon qualified for the championship round of his high school finals. As Koon puts it, “That was back before helmets were cool.” Justin nodded, the chute gate opened, and the crowd was sure that Justin Koon was going to do something spectacular. His ride, however, ended in near tragedy. Justin fell forward, his head crashing into the head of the bull, fracturing his skull “like a shattered windshield,” as his doctors explained it. Justin was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where he remained in a coma for weeks. Doctors sat down with his parents to tell them what every parent fears the most: that they should prepare for the worst. The doctors believed there was no chance Justin would live through his injuries, and on the off chance that he lived, he would more than likely remain in a vegetative state. His family and friends did the only thing they knew to do: they prayed.
