Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

@ChadFukuoka: If it was a matter of not getting vaccinated, I'm assuming it's the parents who are to blame. I mean, if your kid wants to play football but you say he can't get the vax, why, you're an anti-vaxxer. It has to be the parents, right? What kid wouldn't get the vax to play, if it were up ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

Kaimuki just forfeited their season opener against Radford, citing low roster numbers. They may have struggled to reach the 25 player recommended minimum set forth by the OIA. I wonder if it was due to academic reasons, some players not getting vaccinated to be eligible to play, etc. @ChadFukuoka: ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

Word is Kaimuki has half their team waiting to hear about their vax exemptions from DOE. DOE dragging their feet on purpose to force then to get the vax. Iolani playing Kailua at end of month, not sure how big their line is but don't they usually have a bunch of phat asses? @OldManJenkins: Well, I ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

Doubt it was academics as that probation usually is over with before the end of August. The OIA football coordinator was quoted in the StarAdvertiser to the effect that Kaimuki will have a football team but that the player numbers weren’t at the 25 player recommended minimum for this week only. It ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

One thing favoring St. Louis is the fact that they heavily outgained KSK but lost because of the turnovers. Should that happen again, Kamehameha will need at least two turnovers and none themselves. They'll also need their receivers to catch the type of balls they caught against us (when they were ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

Speed.Kamehameha’s speed on defense is good enough to give St.Louis’ OL problems protecting the QB. See first STL-KSK game. Coaching. OC Borengasser has Kamehameha scoring on offense at a much improved pace. DC Wright is good at adjustments. See first STL-KSK game. Penalties. They are in STL’s DNA....

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

@gopunahou: Well, if St Louis has a stronger incentive to win, I'm wondering why unpaid predicts Kamehameha will beat them. I mean, I hope they do, but you have to have a specific reason or reasons, right? Hope alone isn't enough; both schools hope to win. What specific thing or things does he think...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

@unpaid:
Just wondering: Is there any specific reason(s) why you picked Kamehameha over St Louis, or is it just because you had Kamehameha ranked above St Louis?

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

It's kind of disappointing that we didn't win a state title while Reggie was one of our assistants. @gopunahou: As a disliker of Punahou School, I hate to say this, but the way Punahou played Friday night, winning a state title this year might not be totally out of the question. Yes, they'll have t...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

OK, there was no mob at Torres house. The school admin wanted to play power trip and made new rules to get coaches to apply and interview for their jobs. No other school does it. So Torres was gone and the school picked a haole from Idaho? 2013. @TheNewNORM: Yes, I remember that. It was a lady prin...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

Right, it's just a scrimmage. Beneficial to both teams. Forgot that Coach Reggie Torres was asst.AD at Kamehameha. That guy is pure success when it comes to football. Too bad for DOE. Anyway, great work for Kamehameha back ups. This would be needed for the future. @TheNewNORM: Torres sure gets arou...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

@HS Football Fanatic there wasn’t any significant injuries. I’m not familiar with whose the starters for kamehameha are, but they didn’t look like a #1 ranked team on either side of the ball. Kahuku moved the ball at will on offense. Looks like kahuku has a well balanced team this year on offense! ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2021

@NorthEast: Well, that's bad news for Kamehameha. I mean, it's OK to lose a scrimmage, but by that much? I hope Kamehameha didn't suffer any injuries to starters, in addition. That would be doubly sucky. And, now the question arises: How does the #1-ranked school in the state, lose 33-0 to another H...
