Re: 2024 Football Season
Adding margin of victories for common opponents is not realistic. Waianae lost to Leilehua by 14 and Moanalua by 3...that would mean Leilehua should beat Moanalua by 11? Kailua lost to Leilehua by 3 and lost to Moanalua by 13...that would mean Moanalua should beat Leilehua by 10? The formula doesn't ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
This has been a crazy season so far. I've never seen so many teams that are considered some of the top teams in the state that have QB issues. Mililani- Kini out. Backup does decent but fades. JV guy comes in. Kahuku- When does the ride stop? I think they've repped maybe 4 different guys so far ...

Re: As the Season Turns. OIA/ILH.
The truth is this...if you're willing to poach off other teams, then other teams will poach off of you. Waipahu is a prime example. What they did to Aiea was brutal. Kudos to Coach Say for doing his best after being decimated last season. Kudos to Mika for rebuilding the program to be competitive ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
Another great game on tap with Mililani vs Campbell. The Sabers obviously have the offensive firepower in this one, but many people don't give the Trojan defense enough credit. I keep saying that Campbells defense is still a bit shaky. Mililani will be able to run the ball and that will play into ...

Re: Open/D-I Top Ten 2024
Kahuku/Mililani will shake out the top of the poll. Can't wait for that game. I feel it will be low scoring with Kahuku grinding out a win. Moanalua is a bit of an unknown. Just hard to judge any OIA D1 team right now. How good is Radford, Waianae, Kailua? Damien looked great against Iolani. But the ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
@RealTalk @University Ave Great posts, as usual. If I may add my two cents: 1. Campbell High is nuts. I mean, how do we describe their pass-game? Would it be ridiculous to compare them to UH? It seems that every game, Sagapolutele gives a clinic on passing. In the past, it was St Louis School ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
Week In Review Trending Up: 1. Radford. A huge win over Kailua. Thanks to all for bringing Radford into the spotlight. The OIA D1 is giving us some great games and should be a lot of fun this year. 2. Kahuku Offense. Mana Carvalho is/was back for this game. Kahuku was outmatched against Mater Dei ...

Re: As the Season Turns. OIA/ILH.
Radford has numbers and size this year. Interesting to see how they do this weekend against Kailua. I'm interested to see this one too. It is almost a revealing to see how much Radford has improved since last season. The schedule is getting thicker and the standings will start to play out. I think ...

Re: As the Season Turns. OIA/ILH.
@University Ave: You've made some very good points. True, a thick O-line may be only a fat O-line. The Govs' O-line is thick almost every year, yet they were rarely considered a powerhouse team over the years; the same could be said of the Surfriders. And, as you said, this is the problem: Thick O ...

Re: As the Season Turns. OIA/ILH.
I disagree a bit with size being a major factor in tier classification or if a team is good. Size helps if you are physically gifted while being big. If you had a OL or DL that averages 300 lbs but are slow and not very good, what's that really worth? When you look at the Kahuku/Gorman game, the ...

Re: 2024 Interstate Football Games
Mater Dei @Kahuku Kahuku is in for a beating if they can’t find a better offense. I don’t put a lot of stock in hanging 66 points on a D-II team. The most they have scored against an Open team is 16 so far. The Red Raiders have had two weeks to prepare for this game. Here is what I hope they’ve been ...

Re: As the Season Turns. OIA/ILH.
Waianae should always be an Open division team as well as Waipahu and Farrington. The larger enrolled OIA teams should bite the bullet, get better and expand the Open Division. A lot of the larger enrolled schools play down in division because they can't complete at the higher tiers, yet they want ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
As I posted last week, Farrington's run defense has been a little suspect early in the year. They gave up a good amount of rushing yards again to St Louis. The Crusaders continue to struggle with quarterback play, which is unusual to see. Their defense continues to impress, they've been stout ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
Let's review a few things... Campbell obviously has the best QB in the state right now. The championship is not won right now. Teams like Kahuku, Mililani and St Louis have solid defenses this season. Defenses will carry teams into the playoffs and essentially the state tournament. The afore ...

Re: 2024 Football Season
It's hard to believe, but ScoringLive has Farrington High ranked #4, and St Louis School ranked #7. I suspect St Louis alumni are rankled by that. Well, the two schools play each other Saturday, so at least we'll see which school is stronger, going head-to-head. I hope the Govs win, as I prefer ...
