The same politicians act like they care about UH Football when they got rid of Todd Graham.
Where is the support? As some of you said, they couldn't care less if there's football in Hawaii or not.

Re: Congrats to Coach Thurman
Congrats. So talk on the mainland would be....
"I know DT, it's been a while. Lets me give him a call. We need him on our Staff. He is at where.....Come on now."
Calling the AD to prepare an offer package.

Re: Decline interest in Football?
Just to go Off-Topic for a bit. Restaurant Row was a hot spot I remember, and then Aloha Tower Market Place, then it sort of all fizzled out, I think. I don't know as I left the Aina.
So where do kids in their early 20s go today? Let's say on Saturday, game day?

Re: Decline interest in Football?
That's right. There were plenty to do in Hawaii (Oahu) back in the old days where the 35-40K showed up. I'll admit first. Some of us was at Spats or Point After. Some of us was at Club Rose or Club Mignum (forget the spelling now). Still have time for UH Football. I don't know what young people do ...

Re: Decline interest in Football?
Most of my UH Football fan experience was outside of Aloha Stadium and in front of the TV (KHNL13 with Jim Leahey and now the Mayor). I'll admit that only saw a few games in-person. Without (free) TV, I would not be a fan today. This was with rabbit ears antenna. Couldn't afford cable. Now that I'm ...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/caitlin-clarks-alleged-stalker-says-184410456.html "Man accused of stalking Caitlin Clark says he wants to stay in jail and yells he's 'guilty as charged' in court." I didn't think WNBA was popular enough to attract unstable people. I supposed any sort of publicity would ...

Re: Decline interest in Football?
My parents are old and wouldn't want to sit on the bleacher style seats. I think a lot of that loyal fan base we lost are in the same boat. This brings up another point. The fan base going back to old days have aged out. Or not even with us. I remember who tailgating at Aloha Stadium looked like ...

Re: Decline interest in Football?
Thanks for posting this. Just going off of these numbers, let's make some generalization. - There are about 10K bandwagon fans. I say that with respect. When UH Football was at the highest (Sugar and Holiday) it was + 10K. - Fred Von App, may be "worst" in history in terms of W-L, we can say the fan ...

Re: Decline interest in Football?
Post Sugar Bowl would have been the perfect time. (But there was still no soap in the locker room showers). Does anyone know the attendance (again using only attendance to measure) at Aloha Stadium during the Mac era? Did the "decline" started there? Obvious answer is yes, so I don't mean decline by ...

Re: Decline interest in Football?
Three words. Just win, baby! Maybe this is still the old formula. Just win. Looking at 2024, Stanford was 3-9. And we know the school have money, money for players, money for facilities. Like most schools, you don't need to get into Stanford first to play football. So not sure their players can do ...

Re: Decline interest in Football?
Interest in football is at an all time high. Football rules the roost. The difference now is that there are so many ways to consume sports and entertainment. Most folks prefer not to deal with the humans and hassle of attending a football game. That's a good point. Interesting. Casey Kasem used to ...

Decline interest in Football?
All of us have thought about why interest and support of UH football has been declining. Must be the W vs L. Maybe. This story is about Stanford football, but I find it interesting where we as UH fans can relate. https://stanforddaily.com/2025/01/07/evolution-of-stanford-football/?utm_campaign ...

Why not? Just wondering. I see both the same as BS13. Life is not always fair sometimes. That's how the game is played sadly with TP.

Re: Maybe UH Football should drop to FCS and....
I agree with a lot here, but just asking, have the NCAA "ask" UH to step down from D1? If UH is still at the Adults Table, there is no reason to go to the Kids Table. UH is not alone, as I'm sure other schools are feeling the same pressure with $$$. When we look at schools with no limit, maybe D1 ...

Re: New OC Thread
Just for discussion, not sold on the TP, meaning what if these guys don't gel? The end result may be worst in the season. UH had a lot of good players perhaps in the wrong system. And the system kept changing. Yes, there is the JJ turnaround with Fred Von App (FVA) players. Even with that, FVA ...
