Re: Kamehameha on the rise in ILH
Sorry; Punahou is in ILH Open, not D1. But, I expect them to take it again this coming season. One consolation for you is that Kahuku looks to be just as tough as last year. So they might win the state open title over Punahou, if both teams make the championship game. @ChadFukuoka: Yes. I'm predict...

Re: Kamehameha on the rise in ILH
I saw Kamehameha even has youth football teams now (coached by former Waianae HC Walter Young). Not a bad time to start investing into football again with the Lee's winding down at Saint Louis. I wonder what they're admission protocols are nowadays. I know for a while it was about trying to get mor...

Re: Hawaii's Dysfunctional Divisions
Yep. Saints win the deciding set, 25-19. Seems the Jr Bows should shoulder some of the blame. Going into this championship match, they were undefeated, while the Saints had two losses. What happened? God only knows.

Another year, another round of sandbagging success for the Crusaders! St. Louis Volleyball will play in the Div. 2 State Championship Match tomorrow night. They're led by Div. 1 State Basketball Champion & Player of the Year, Pupualii Sepulona. If a school can field Open Football and win the hi...

Re: HS Football Fanatic
Hello, all. St Louis alumni have very good reason to be ticked. Last night, the baseball team lost to Mililani in the D1 State Tourney, 2-1. This loss sucked on many levels: 1. It always sucks to lose a game, especially by one run. 2. This loss occurred during the State Tourney, where one loss means...

Re: Favorite HS football players of all time?
Waianae football with Larry Ginoza always a tough physical matchup. Waianae may have had an occasional big guy like Tom Tuinei but overall they weren't particularly a big team. Some from the 70's that went played at University of Hawaii were Tui Ala (RB), Mike Vierra (RB) Manny Desoto (LB), Wadsley...

Re: Favorite HS football players of all time?
Cliff Laboy is the dad of Travis but I believe Travis was raised on the mainland by his mom. I don't know how involved Cliff was with Travis's upbringing. Cliff was older than Hanawahine and their playing time at UH may have overlapped by a year or two. Vinnie Passas was also a starting QB that SLH...

Re: Favorite HS football players of all time?
@BowTow: Yes, I remember Cabral as a player for Chicago. I didn't know Cabral was on that same '73 St Louis team as Matsushima. No wonder they got past Punahou that year; that year, Punahou had RB Mosi Tatupu, one of the greatest RBs in Hawaii high school history. Of course, he went on to become a ...

Re: Favorite HS football players of all time?
Marciel also tried using Brian Cabral as a running back that same year. Like Matsushima, Cabral lacked the natural instincts of a running back. Physically Cabral was a beast. Cabral did go on to become a starting linebacker for the Chicago Bears. @BowTow: Yes, I remember Cabral as a player for Chic...

Re: HS Football Fanatic
Anyone seen the home run ruled a double in recent softball game. I think it Waianae vs Mililani at the McKinley High School field. The Waianae girl hit a ball clearly over the right field fence, confirmed on Spectrum replay. @BowTow: Yes! I was watching that game on Spectrum, too! It was clearly a ...
