Re: Hawaii vs. BYU series looks dead now

That rivalry is dead anyway. In 2001 the game was a 50,000 sellout. In the 2019 Hawaii Bowl, tickets issued was only 21,582. New generation could care less if it was BYU, Fresno St, or Boise St. The Rolo storyline is over. Yep not the same any more. I like that we will get to see Pac teams like UCL...

uhwarriors wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:15 pm Coach Keiki Misipeka did it again. He got Lester Laisene Lagafuaina from American Samoa too this year. He has a boatload of experience and credibility in recruiting Samoan athletes. The Samoa connection is back up and running.
Awesome!

Re: Pitt QB Joey Yellen committed

I am not worried about the QB position anymore. This is a real nice pickup. I think it could be that our new OC may be one of the reasons. Players out there know that we are looking for a starter. I like the competition.

Re: RB Zaren Crockett commits

I like this back. Good size, power, vision, accelerates when he sees an opening. Tough to tackle. Sometimes speed not everything. Sometimes you need to get that one or two yards. I am hoping we find a player like that.

Re: 2022 Island Day, Junior Day, Spring Game Set for 4/16

In the paper Schager said that he is getting coached up the way he needs to. He thinks it is really helping him. I thought that it seemed like we were missing a quarterback coach last season. Looking forward to seeing how much he has improved this upcoming season. I have always thought that he had t...

Re: WR commit

Jackson is fast and has 10.8 100m speed which can be seen in his JC and HS tape. Why he wasn't more productive at BYU is a question. I know the coaches were looking for WRs that could stretch defenses and beat man coverage. Hopefully that's what he'll do here. Unfortunately he won't be here until s...

Re: DT Coach Eti Ena (from Eastern Washington)

after losing six (6) stalworths (Kapoi, Matthews, McKinney, Laulu, Tavai, Tonga) who all weighed at least 270 lbs As far as I can tell--Kapoi,Tonga and McKinney didn't make much of an impact. So, the stalwarts you speak of are Mathews, Laulu, and Tavai. Yeah, we could always use more beef at nose g...

Re: DT Coach Eti Ena (from Eastern Washington)

Hope the run defense becomes a strength next season. There were times, in my opinion, the DL were too easily pushed back by a seasoned offensive line opening lanes for the NFL sized backs to run amok. That's been true for decades. DL has always been suspect against mediocre and especially better te...

Re: Lester-Laisene Lagafuaina rush end commits

Definitely a OLB, DE type...let's see if he gets into the plate lunches..turns into MLB...seems to have strong hands for being a skinny guy bc he gets rid of ppl easily and tosses runners to the ground. I really liked Miami's Defebsive philosophy in the 80s - recruit safeties to play LB, LB to play...

6-4, 210 and appears very athletic. Looks like he played primarily in the secondary at Tafuna HS.
Will probably eventually bulk up to 240+ after he gets to UH.

Good to see the recruiting pipeline with American Samoa continue!
Agree. :hello1: :hello1: :hello1: :hello1:
