Re: 2023 UH@Nevada Pre Game Thread
Nevada's 2nd year HC Ken Wilson won his first two games, and then lost 16 games in a row before winning his last 2 games against SD and NMST. In the 4 games that Nevada won the team had 13 takeaways and zero turnovers. For UH to have a chance the team has to win the turnover battle. UH has to start ...

Why Do You Think Jones Declined The UH Job?
Why Do You Think Jones Declined The UH Job? https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2022/01/22/june-jones-turns-down-offer-become-head-coach-embattled-uh-football-program/ From the article: Matlin: “At the end of the day, we couldn’t agree on a succession plan that I felt was important for our student-athlete...

Re: Is the RNS not the answer?
The common element I see is that Jones had great centers in Estes, Satele. Rolovoch had a good one too, but I can't remember his name. I think successful RNS starts with having a good center. Sry but ET is not a good center. In fact he's gotten worse since when he first came to UH.

Re: RIP Bob Wagner
When I say goodbye and Aloha to Coach Wagner, I do so with tears in my eyes because he brought so much happiness to Hawaii football fans with his epic wins over BYU, IOWA and Illinois. Those were the best days of my life. To have seen the tears of joy, excitement and the fans basking in the surreal ...

What Changes Would You Suggest As The Team Prepares For SDST
With the team being in a bye week I read/hear a lot of talk that the bye week will give the team a much needed rest to heal, recharge and regroup. Great. But what about ironing out the wrinkles, improving and getting the offense and defense to play at a higher level instead as how some say the team ...

Re: Schager Year 3
Against UNLV BS graded at 92 according to pff.com. He also had 7 BTT (big time throws). Of the 41 DB (drop backs) he was either hit or sacked 15 times. Can you imagine what his numbers would be like if he had time to throw? BS was successful on 4-5 play action passes for 120, which begs the question...

Re: How Is Chang Going To Get This Train Back On Track?
June's template of building a solid team started imo with recruiting good o-linemen and assistant coaches. I heard him say this exactly. He didn't swell over QBs and WRs but instead he swelled over recruiting good linemen. On one show I recall his exact words that incoming recruit, center, Estes, wi...

Re: Redzone Scoring 2012 to current
Great post. From looking at the data the 2023 team is on pace at being the worse redzone scoring offense since 2012 with a projected 16-18 misses. If TC is calling the plays would he be better suited at going up into the box. Or is it unheard of seeing the HC not on the sidelines? IDK. But I am all ...

Re: Then and Now
Then-(pre Graham) players adapted to old school, disciplined coaching and welcomed their coaches lighting a fire under them, spurring them on and motivating them (sometime with the foulest of language) so that the player can reach their potential, make themselves a better player, and help their team...

Re: ***OFFICIAL UH vs. UNLV GAME THREAD***
I watched the game and agree with all the rants. This team is frustrating to watch. 1 for 11 on 3rd downs, 18 mistackles (Pei with 8 in the last 2 games), and UH allowing 10 tackles for loss. With the o-line being a complete mess. Decambra giving up 3 of the 6 sacks, it raises the question as to why...

Re: ***OFFICIAL UH vs. UNLV GAME THREAD***
If the center,#61, ET, has a good game I say UH wins. It starts with the center. Last week ET played terrible(gave up 7 hurries, graded 37 for PB). If BS has time to throw UH wins. LUKE AND Josh are doing okay. ET needs to be the Leader.

Re: GM1: UH @Vandy Game Thread
What stands out to me are TC going for it on fourth downs, QB, WR, and the young offensive line with LT, RT (both Soph)and both OG (both Jun.)making their first career starts (?) on the road. BS was 24/27 when he had a clean pocket, and was 4/4 on screens. Take away the other 3/8 passes when BS was ...

Re: Run N Shoot Is Back
I agree with the idea of changing the coaching personnel to fit the run-and-shoot, especially at the WR position. I like the idea that Chang is all in with a TE and calling plays, too . Did Chang coach the TE last season? Does he plan on coaching the TE in the upcoming season? The reason I mention t...

Re: Wyoming Transfer CB/KR Cam Stone Commits
I looked at Stone's stats on pff.com. In 2022 he was in on 701 snaps and graded Defense-74.6/ Coverage-80.9.
Stone's drawback is at tackling with 15 missed tackles he graded 36.8.
It's great to see that UH is about to sign an experienced/good player.
