Re: Hawaii Recruiting next 2 years (or more)
Dan was good (51% passing percent) he wasn't great. He beat some good teams. It would have been great to see what he could do if he had another year. But that is my point. He didn't have another year. You cannot sustain and grow a program recruiting QBs who might give you one good year because of th...

Re: Hawaii Recruiting next 2 years (or more)
If there is an accurate JUCO QB that we simply can’t pass up, I say we go get him. I think we need to recruit 2 JC or Portal Transfer to challenge Schager next spring for QB1 & 2. I don't feel good about relying on a true freshman or any other returning QBs. I was hoping for 1 JC and 1 hs and m...

Re: Hawaii Recruiting next 2 years (or more)
Transfer portal realities: 1. Better players are transferring up to better teams and transferring for NIL. UH is not an option. 2. Better players transferring laterally are transferring for NIL and playing time. UH is not an option. We have offered many other players and lost to other schools. We've...

Re: Hawaii QB1 &2 (1999-Current)
With current game planning, play calling and game decisions by current coaching staff it doesn't matter who the QB is. And changing offenses during the season is a recipe for disaster. Like last year it would mean that the coaches have no faith in what they preached all of last year, the spring and ...

Re: Don't hate the messenger.....but what if?
College football landscape has changed and not in Hawaii's favor. Winning teams this year and in the future is now defined as: 1. Schools with very good NIL opportunities for players 2. Teams with strong alumni that support their schools and financially support NIL 2. The transfer portal 3. Transfer...

Re: Hawaii vs. Oregon Game Thread
Let’s be fully honest here. Anyone expect anything but a blowout against Oregon? That being said I have questioned since the Stanford game is where is the screen game, where’s the shovel pass? One of the best things JJ did was take some advice from Bill Walsh and implement more short passing game/W...

looks like a qualification casualty. Occasional shoulder tackles instead of wrapping up.

Re: Don't hate the messenger.....but what if?
the 13th game is a negative. Teams play a 13th game because of conference championship playoffs without a game with Hawaii. Playing fourteen games doesn't leave bye weeks. The seasons are long and most teams want a break for school and recovery. The teams that take the extra game are typically road ...

Re: WR Rotation
lucky to have talent and depth. Still need to see how all of them develop in the R&S and the connection with Schager. They all have size, speed and can make the catches under pressure. Depth is critical at all positions because of fatigue, injuries and the intensity of the game.

Don't get me wrong. I am thrilled that we won. Just frustrated like most fans.

Re: Gm3: UH vs Albany Game Thread
Play calling is terrible. People are saying that Shager is holding the ball too long. It's like he enjoys getting pressure. He holds the ball because the plays that are being called are requiring longer routes to develop. At least there were some screens in this game although execution is terrible. ...

Re: Schager Year 3
Schager, for sure. I watched SJSU versus OSU. Years back, I pissed off a few folks by suggesting that we perhaps sit Cordiero for a game and start this young freshmen from Dallas named Schager. Cordiero is a good QB, just not the great one folks make him out to be. Yes, he was the OPOTY for MWC. Go...

Re: FREE SOLO
He is a tweener. Not big enough for OL against good competition. He is effective as a short yardage blocking back. Too slow for a running back and lacks RB experience. Yes, he might give us some yards in spurts against mediocre teams. Good defensive teams would shut him down as an RB. I like Morris ...
