Re: HS Soccer

Hello all. It's been some 11 days since the last post in the High School Sports section, so I thought I'd get the section rolling again. (The "HS" in my User Name stands for, "High School".) Anyway, this post is about volleyball. There's no separate thread for volleyball, and I ...

Re: 2023-2024 Wrestling Season

@FlyingSquirrel808: Kamehameha and St Louis might prefer that light not be shed on what's going in the ILH. That way, they can keep finishing at or near the top in the league. Speaking of St Louis, they are doing well in other sports besides football. Their basketball team has won states 3 years in...

Re: 2024 Football Season

Kale Ane has been a disappointment after 3 years at McKinley. His only improvement is the number of players on the team but their performance has remained the same, losing and by large margins. I thought after 3 years Ane would have a more competitive team. Has the time for Ane passed like it passe...

Re: HS Boys Basketball

@ChadFukuoka: Well, I would hope that the Mililani coach put-in his/her reserves as soon as the score got to 10-0. Then, with each additional goal, put-in weaker players, until your weakest players are on the field. By the way, I went to scoringlive just now, and saw something a little disturbing: ...

Re: HS Boys Basketball

OK, there's no specific thread for this sport, but I thought I'd post it on this thread because 1.) I was the last one to post on it, and 2.) There aren't very many posts on this thread anyway. Tonight, Mililani's girls' soccer team beat Waialua, 21-0. No, that's not a typo. If we were to assume th...

Re: All OIA OPEN State Championship. Sign of Things to Come

You're against classification and having different levels of divisions. Do you think that caused players from smaller schools to start transferring out to bigger schools if they had the talent? Or are those things unrelated? @ChadFukuoka: Perhaps I'm refusing to accept how things have changed in hi...

Re: All OIA OPEN State Championship. Sign of Things to Come

The question is: Does a school HAVE to RECRUIT in this day and age? I'm an old fart in his 60s who tends to live in the past. I wish things could go back to how they were in the mid-'70s, when I was in high school. As a relatively newer school, Mililani High didn't even have its first graduating cl...

Re: High School Football 2023

There was NO WAY Roman should’ve played!!! Dirty player. I hope who ever ok’d him to play feels good about that choice that was made. I’m thinking the officials was upset that he played as I noticed hardly had regular officials doing the game. Even without Mana, Kahuku came together and pulled it o...

Re: All OIA OPEN State Championship. Sign of Things to Come

If that is the case, I see nothing wrong with making the Open championship resemble the old Prep Bowl. OIA champ vs ILH champ. I would much rather have the OIA-ILH alliance back, and the top 4 teams make the semifinals regardless of league affiliation. The years during the alliance when St Louis wa...

Re: All OIA OPEN State Championship. Sign of Things to Come

Kahuku vs. Mililani 2023 is the first All Oia Open States in History. This is not by upsets or bracketing. ILH open teams went 2-4 against OIA open teams this year. As we look at possible future ILH roster, they are no Tuas or Jaydens in the near future. We also see ILH players transferring to OIA ...

Re: High School Football 2023

Tonight hurts because of the bad history we made and watching our great senior class finish their careers as they did. I also gotta go with Mililani next week because history does not favor Kahuku. Next week’s game will be a rematch of a previous game. Nearly every high level championship game rema...

Re: High School Football 2023

UH and the HHSAA finalized the deal to have the Open Championship game played at T.C. Ching. The HHSAA website now lists the Manoa facility as the site for the game. Whew! I was wondering as time dragged on if they were going to work this out. Where are the D1 and D2 championship games being played?

Re: High School Football 2023

The state brackets are out for all divisions. Mililani-Campbell, and Punahou-Kahuku for the Open. Konawaena is the top seed in the D1, and along with Waipahu have first round byes. Kapaa plays Lahainaluna (which should be a great matchup of undefeated neighbor island teams), winner plays Konawaena. ...

Re: High School Football 2023

I'm bummed out that Pearl City lost at home to Kaimuki tonight. They were undefeated this season until now. They have never won an OIA title at any level, and I thought this year was a great chance for them. Pearl City, Kalani, and Kalaheo are the only three teams to never win any OIA football title...
