Sports Hawaii is a proud supporter of this camp and will cover this event for everyone to see!
Football University (FBU), the nation’s foremost football training experience, will be coming to Hawaii January 22-24! Based on a NFL mini-camp, Football University is an elite, invite only football camp. Football University brings in top NFL stars and elite NFL coaches who have trained the likes of Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan. Football University utilizes a national network of scouts and regional directors to identify top talent for this invitation-only camp. In addition, talent can also nominate itself for this once-in-a-lifetime experience at http://www.FootballUniversity.org.
“Hawaii has one of the best football cultures in the world, a true warrior mentality, and continually produces top football talent. The state isn’t recognized like Texas, California or Georgia, but deserves more of the spotlight,” said Rich McGuinness, president of Football University. “Hawaii is a hotbed for gridiron talent and we are pleased to be involved with an event that can create an opportunity for more Hawaii high school senior players to showcase their skills.”
Football University recently produced, along with HUB, the Hawaii/Polynesia- Mainland Bowl, part of the 2009 Aloha Prep Bowl. During that bowl week, they also hosted a free combine to athletes in grades 6-12. FBU is also a proud sponsor of the Island Sports Media Player of the Year 2009.
If an athlete wants to get a behind the scene glimpse of the elite training at Football University, Fox Sports Net has been airing a reality show called “The Ride.” The 10 week show, aired to 70 million homes nationally, features 8 Quarterbacks who are competing for one (1) spot in the US Army All-American Bowl on NBC. They attend Football University and are trained by eight of the nation’s top quarterbacks who trained Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan. The show airs in Hawaii weekly on Fox Prime Ticket (check local listings). You can see the trailer at http://www.taketheride.tv and all past episodes at http://www.highschoolsports.net. In Hawaii, it is Sunday Nights, 7p on Channel 31. Two of “The Ride” finalists played in the Mainland/Polynesian Bowl. They were joined by Hawaii’s own VJ Fehoko, who will be featured in episode 8. Casting call for The Ride – 2010 begins this January at FBU’s Hawaii Camp as the search for a top player from Hawaii with a story to tell – begins.
