In football news, Dave Reardon writes that Greg McMackin is resting in Vegas before heading back to work, which includes recruiting for the 2009 class. Stephen Tsai has some details about UH trying to open up a recruiting pipeline in Utah, as well as using a “buddy system” for local recruiting.

The Warriors are going with the buddy system in recruiting locally.
Coaches are paired in recruiting specific Hawai‘i schools. For instance, Rich Miano and Dave Aranda tag-teamed the Maui high schools this past week.
The strategy helps the new coaches — Aranda, Nick Rolovich, Brian Smith, Alex Gerke — familiarize themselves with the local schools.
