I think they can squeeze a serviceable season out of him... if they make the qb read option a bigger part of the offense (which is what I think Chow should have just done last season). Mack made a bowl game with Inoke Funaki at QB doing basically the same thing.J-Rod wrote:I can understand both arguments. The transfer route has brought a ton of losing and inconsistency, but the QB depth is one of the worst in the MW right now. Reality is: there is no quick fix. It will take several years of recruiting and development for Rolo to get the QB position to where he wants it to be. Just hope Ikaika can handle the load in 2016, he is a heavy favorite based purely on experience.

Re: 2016 QB Depth Chart
With the late JC transfers, this is chronological depth chart of the scholarship QBs:
Woolsey, R-Sr (1 to play 1)
Reilly, R-So (3 to play 3)
Brown, So (4 to play 3)
Brownholtz, So (4 to play 3)
Zwahlen, R-Fr (4 to play 4)
McDonald, Fr (5 to play 4)
There's no one in the Junior class and it would have been ideal if we had one QB in each of the 5 classes. But given the situation, it looks like we have a lot of young arms to work with. Hopefully one rises above the others by next year.

Re: 2016 QB Depth Chart
It's looking pretty clear that Woolsey will start in 2016. Whether he holds the position all season is another story, but the story of fall camp will be: who cements the #2 spot? A lot of names in the hat.
Unless some stud HS or JC QB is landed in the upcoming recruiting class, the QB that earns the #2 spot is likely the leader to win the job in 2017...and would likely be the starting QB for at least 2 seasons.

Re: 2016 QB Depth Chart
Also add Marshall Transfer Kyle Gallup, RS Soph.
if he is eligible in 2016 he will have 3 to play 3
else 3 to play 2
Oh and he's from Ohio
