So whose ponying up the money for this trip? Not to mention I assume UH gave up the home game and all that potential revenue that comes with it.
I'm all for the trip, but UH is not in the financial position to be doing these excursions unless there is some outside funding for it b

"UH is expected to make a net profit in six-figures on the venture, which includes sponsorship handling the team's air travel, lodging and ground transportation, Hawaii athletic director David Matlin said."

I think the game is one week before the normal regular season, so this is an extra game and money making opportunity.
If Hawaii wants to be one step ahead, things like international games vs a P5 opponent, starting season earlier and being the only game on tv, recruiting and being the team representing Asia-Pacific, etc. these are things we must do.

Re: 2016 season opener in Australia
Next year's schedule may arguably be harder than this year's. Gotta see the conference schedule. We play 2 OOC games at home next year as opposed to 3 (which were the only games we won) this year. Plus 3 of the games are against tough opponents while 2 this year. Rolo's got his work cut out for him.

What 18,000 miles and 8 time zones in one week? Piece of cake...browndog wrote:Irse wrote:Next year's schedule may arguably be harder than this year's. Gotta see the conference schedule. Play the starters in the first quarter and 2nd and third teams as much as possible after that.. then play the first team like you normally would from the third game forward. That way, we hit the conference with most of our starters at 100% and our relievers with solid game experience.
