The University of Hawaii football team will no longer have a room with an eww.
For the first time since 2005, the Rainbow Warriors will live exclusively in an on-campus dormitory during the three weeks of training camp in August.
Except for 2012, when the Warriors trained at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, they resided fully or partly in two second-floor dance studios in the athletic complex. They slept on rented cots, shared electrical outlets, and used the showers and bathrooms in the football locker room.
This is a big deal for the players to get better sleep during the physically grueling summer camp. Less guys getting sick and possibly injured due to poor sleep. It's been a real problem for the football program dealing with the housing department and I hope they don't have to pay too much.
Real rooms. Real beds. I'm happy for the players and it's about time. The dance studios should have only been a one year thing with the loss of a dormitory for renovation.
Yes, it's about time. Staying in the dance studio during Fall Camp was one aspect of the program that made UH look third rate and high schoolish despite the team bonding spin used for years, and probably was a negative recruiting tool used by other schools. Probably was a point of embarrassment for the players who have friends at other schools and maybe a shock for newcomers. I do believe that when you feel good, you do good.

I totally agree with everyone that this is a good thing. But I wonder, if the old ways build more bonding? I can imagine the old way being kind of fun, in a way.
