A Coach Petersen team with PAC-12 talent. He knows Hawai'i's strengths and all of UH's weaknesses. On top of that they had all Summer to prerpare. It will not be pretty for UH at all. The Huskies will make them look like Rainbows for sure, not Warriors.
Mahalos [*]Red Gun[/color] for the update!!!
Re: ** Official UH/Washington pregame thread**
And? Last season Coach Pete had all off-season to prepare for a Washington team he had already beaten in 2012....how'd that turn out? Well, he abandoned BSU's trademark philosophy on offense for a "quicker and more simplistic" approach and played a deep zone on defense (something BSU never did prior). They lost 38-6....first beat down in years. Petersen abandoned their identity and it resulted in BSU's worst season in 15 years. And he's keeping that new approach at Washington.WA Warrior wrote:A Coach Petersen team with PAC-12 talent. He knows Hawai'i's strengths and all of UH's weaknesses. It's about time Coach Pete stop cashing in on Kellen Moore's success. He's changed his ways, and I'm not sure if it's for the better. They will not be a well-oiled machine by any stretch.
Bottom line: For the first time in years, in 2013....Boise State did not look like Boise State....and that was 100% Chris Petersen's fault. Washington will look like 2013 Boise State (emphasis on quick, simple no-huddle offense), not 2000-2012 Boise State (multiple offense, lots of shifts that BSU became known for)
Basically...expect a less creative version of Sark's Washington teams.
I still expect a blowout, because I don't trust Norm. But this is no Pac-12 juggernaut.

Regarding Taz Stevenson, is he still with us or what? I know everyone was saying he was gonna join us for the fall, but I don't see his name on the roster on the website.
Re: ** Official UH/Washington pregame thread**
I think someone already said this on another thread. It's not their offense we should worry about it's their Defense. I think that I would have to agree with that. But who knows? Maybe some miracle will happen over the spring and somehow they click and put up 2006/2007 like numbers on offense this year.

I expect Washington to come charging on the first play.... so if on the Warrior's initial first-down Chow runs a shovel pass over the center...

He only coached against this coaching staff once and that in 2012.
I don't think he bothered to watch a UH game last season.
All those years he coached against JJ and Mack are moot.

Re: ** Official UH/Washington pregame thread**
When CP first became the OC at Boise St, it took about 2 years before they became the Beast.
He is a genius, but he still has to get the players on the same page.

Re: ** Official UH/Washington pregame thread**
And even that sometimes is not enough. After losing great assistant after great assistant, coaching attrition hurts. No Harsin, Wilcox, Yates, Pease, etc....it's hard when the Power 5 schools rob you of all your good coaches. It set Petersen and Boise back.BigWave96744 wrote:When CP first became the OC at Boise St, it took about 2 years before they became the Beast.

It will be interesting to see if Utah State scales back after Keeton graduates....they too have been losing lots of good assistant coaches, one obviously to Hawaii.
Hell, even the Power 5 schools deal with it. You follow Florida State BW....remember the late Bowden years? After he lost Richt, etc. to other schools? It's hard replacing assistants. Time will tell if Petersen pays for being too loyal in Washington, cause instead of finding the best assistants with a Pac-12 budget, he just kept all his Boise guys...quite a few of them being the reasons Boise has regressed recently.
Good thing the Huskies have great talent, cause the people who assume Petersen's staff > Sark's old UW staff are just plain wrong.
A head coach is as good as his coaching staff. These Huskies are not flawless. Norm and co. will have their chances...whether they take advantage of them or not is where I'm skeptical.

Thompson, Kikaha, Shelton Make More Watch Lists
Preseason watch list honors continue to roll in for Washington football players as senior Hau'oli Kikaha and junior Shaq Thompson have made the list for the Dick Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker, while Thompson and senior Danny Shelton are up for the Rotary Lombardi Award, given to offensive linemen and defensive front-seven players.

I'm not too worried... I guess you could say that I am TAKING THEM LIGHTLY!!!!
I always feel good about the first game of the season. even those times USC would hang 60+ on us.

Nvm, my question has been answered per Rob DeMello:Neighbor wrote:Regarding Taz Stevenson, is he still with us or what? I know everyone was saying he was gonna join us for the fall, but I don't see his name on the roster on the website.
