Free the bench!!! Who would you like to see get some playing time?

Post by ulua »

Since we are not going bowling. I would like to see more bench players get some game time reps.
We may as well get some of the underclassmen who are not red shirting and the Jr’s And seniors to be some reps, to see what we got for next year and to let them get used to the speed of live ball.

Who would you like to see?
Here are some of my picks

1) Kumoku Noa I know he is already getting reps but
Maybe be as a starter - I like what I see from him

2) Armstrong-Brown - same as Noa

3) McDonald lets see what he can do

4) Fred Holly - we are losing both Ryan and DSJ to
Graduation - need to get him reps

5) Ito - I just want to see him play, next year we will
Have a lot of RB’s and may get lost in the rotation

6) Stubblefield and Timoteo - why are they not
Sniffing the field?

There are others I like to see just can’t think of the names off my head, need to look at the roster

Thanks

You pretty much nailed it.

I also want to see anyone else who is will to return a punt instead of fair catching everytime

i'd like to see more attempts at running returns for punts. but, i think it's the special teams coach that is mandating fair catches.

I think that fair catches on punts is because of the hang time and coverages, not necessarily because of the ST coach - the returner does not have much room to operate. Chad Owens used to take a lot of chances and once in awhile he would break one, but then he would also get nailed hard for little or no gain as well. On UH's punts, Gaudion doesn't hang them up that long, plenty line drive and low punts means punt returns for the opponents.

Now getting back to the original question . . .

I agree with the OP on the offensive skill players, especially with the receivers. SOMEBODY'S got to be better than Stonehands Collie, Slowpoke Barker, and No Moves Ewaliko.

DSJ stills needs to get his yards, but besides the occasional Tuiasoa, Holly needs some relevant touches, and I'd love to see the Human Bowling Ball Ito get some carries too.

I'd like to see Holly, Elijah Dale, McDonald, and Brownholtz get some work in. Let's see what they do with some extended playing time.

In light of the miserable season, you gotta laugh when you could see the ending of the season coming so early in the season. I actually heard they are recruiting Randall Saito at halfback because of his ability to escape in the toughest situations.

LMAO Randall Saito

What about Hunter Hughes? I wouldn't mind seeing him play. He's a senior and Rolo did give him a scholarship...

And we did still see too much Stonehands Collie, Slowpoke Barker, and No Moves Ewaliko this past, horrible game. At least Collie caught the balls thrown his way that were catchable. Brown threw a few towards him that were seemingly thrown to someone else who was not there. And what's up with throwing balls at the feet of Barker? The man is 6'-4" tall!

Play McDonald, it looked to me like he didn't struggle to throw a pass downfield. Brown looks like he's straining to throw it deep. Brown rarely keeps the ball on the option, always handing it off to DSJ no matter if the DE is crashing down the line hard, may as well play McD.

Brownholtz. He looks like a sidearm gunslinger.

Any of the scout team seniors. At least a play or two would be nice to see.

At least for 1 set of downs, play Senior Hunter Hughes.
If he's good enough to earn a scholie he should be good for a few plays

I don't think Hughes got a scholie for his talent, I think Rolo gave him one for his great attitude, scout team contributions and persistence. I believe da bugga got cut 2x, but I could be wrong.
