Quentin Davis is a dual threat QB from St. John Bosco HS, Bellflower, CA. He's a WSU commit but UH has offered

Re: Washington State QB Commit Quentin Davis Offered
Maybe it's because I lost interest in recruiting during the Chow era, but recruiting has evolved significantly over the past 10+ years.
- Twitter and social media is truly ubiquitous. Kids shamelessly promoting themselves to the coaches that treat them the best. Like the male version of "Pretty Woman." Coaches maintaining indirect contact with kids throughout the recruiting period and referring to players by hashtags. I can understand why a recruiting coordinator is necessary with the info saturation and nonsense to sort through.
- Significantly more offers to players who are already committed. Probably a byproduct of Millenials being remarkably fickle and attracted to the next cool thing around. Kids decommitting has gone the other way for Hawaii many times in the past. Would like to see Rolo pull a role reversal for once.
- Significantly more offers. Rolo might just be more transparent than previous Hawaii coaches. We'll see if this strategy pans out for him. Knowing that other programs watch who Hawaii recruits, this could be a ploy to create diversions to distract who Hawaii's top targets truly are... or not.
- Stephen Tsai no longer in the circle of trust. Tough to scoop the coaches and players when they can post an updated status immediately. There's still a role for him, just not as the program's sole source of recruiting info.

Did anyone see him in backup role vs St Louis the other year? Is he better than Milton?
Re: Washington State QB Commit Quentin Davis Offered
Hawaii was recruiting him from his Junior year

Stephen Tsai remains to be a direct connect with Rolo. They have been friends sincewayoutwest wrote:Maybe it's because I lost interest in recruiting during the Chow era, but recruiting has evolved significantly over the past 10+ years.

Rolo donned the warrior uniform. Quite often things are asked to be kept quiet as recruiting can be quite a secretive and sensitive issue.
I don't know why you would make such an unqualified statement?
Tsai has been quiet because tomorrow, Friday he is scheduled to undergo a major surgery.

Just my own observations... like everything else in my post. You appear to be "in the know." The majority of fans are not. I stand by my observation that Hawaii fans were FAR more reliant on Tsai for recruiting scoops in the past. Now the fans get it straight from the horse's mouth, and somehow it's not a recruiting violation. The point I'm making is things have changed significantly in recruiting.al wrote:

Hoping that this means that UH now has a legit shot at landing Davis......though it sounds like Fresno State might be his new favorite.....

This kid's highlights are AMAZING! Hopefully he comes to Hawaii. This would by far be our biggest add

Either him or Aaron would be nice.PrideRockFB wrote:This kid's highlights are AMAZING! Hopefully he comes to Hawaii. This would by far be our biggest add
The one thing I noticed was that most of his receivers were so wide open but he couldn't hit them in stride a lot of the time. They had to reach for the ball or dive or somehow break stride to make the catch. He does seem to have a quicker release than Aaron.

His quick decision making and quick release are his selling point for the run-n-shoot style offenses (WSU, Fresno, Hawaii). Very similar to Milton just more stout.

I noticed that too. Maybe we need to look at those receivers. Actually both those quarterbacks have receivers that have made plays on balls that were thrown up for grabs.Irse wrote:Either him or Aaron would be nice.PrideRockFB wrote:This kid's highlights are AMAZING! Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.
